Some critics have been down on Kelsea Ballerini for how she pushes the boundaries on country music with adding some pop into the mix, but that won’t stop her, and it certainly will not detract her fans. Ballerini won the CMT Performance of the Year for her 2020 CMT Music Awards performance of “The Other Girl” with Halsey. While the song has been categorically confused, Ballerini was thankful to her fans for their continued support.

“The fact that you voted for this as the winning performance tells me you know where my roots are and you know who I am,” she said. “It also tells me you hear music as music.”

Ballerini continued to defy being strictly labeled with a performance of her newest single “I Quit Drinking” alongside Paul Klein of the pop band LANY. You can check out their steamy performance above.
