Man, it feels good to be country again! Nashville had a big night tonight, as the 2021 CMT Music Awards was certainly a night to remember.
Carrie Underwood and John Legend took home the biggest award of the night – more on that later – but Gabby Barrett and Kane Brown also had moments to shine winning Female and Male Video of the Year. Underwood’s win was the 9th Video of the Year award for her since 2007’s “Before He Cheats” and she beat her current record of most Video of the Year wins.
Lady A kicked off the night with a female-driven performance of their hit “Like A Lady” by bringing Carly Pearce and Lindsay Ell onstage with them. The colorfully clad performers brought high energy right at the beginning and it was a great moment to celebrate the women in a male-heavy genre.
Celeb Secrets Country has also already covered two of the other biggest performances of the night. Chris Stapleton brought the house down thanks to a collaboration with H.E.R., who may just be one of the greatest musicians of our generation. The pair perfectly blended country, soul and rock together. Meanwhile, Luke Combs also gave a fiery performance of “Cold as You.”
However, that is just the tip of the iceberg as the night was filled with fantastic performances both in-person and on-location as well as some much-deserved wins. Click through to see our 10 favorite moments from the show.
