Carrie Underwood Had the Best Night

What a night to be Carrie Underwood! 15 years after winning her first CMT Music Awards (“Jesus Take the Wheel” won both Female Video of the Year and Breakthrough Video of the Year in 2006), Underwood is still going strong.

First, she performed alongside NEEDTOBREATHE on their newest single, “I Wanna Remember.” Performing on an outdoor rooftop, the strong and distinct voices of both Underwood and lead singer Bear Rinehart made for a memorable performance of what is currently one of our favorite songs.

To end the night, Underwood took home her record-breaking 9th Video of the Year award for “Hallelujah” with John Legend. While it is hard to determine if that is the first time a song off a Christmas album has won the award, it is definitely a rarity. She thanked Legend in her speech for sending her the song and congratulated him on his first CMT Music Award win.

Her speech is up first in the video below.
