When Taylor Swift‘s highly-anticipated album Lover dropped last year, country singer Ryan Hurd had nothing but good things to say about the record.

His favorite song? “False God.” After saying he “wish he wrote” the pop song on his Instagram Stories, Taylor reshared his post thanking him for his kind words adding, “If you ever cover it I will burst into a cloud of confetti.”

It looks like Swift has officially burst into that cloud of confetti, as the RCA Nashville singer put his own spin on the song and performed it every single night on his recent headlining PLATONIC Tour.

“I’ve been covering ‘False God’ by Taylor Swift in our set which was really cool,” Hurd tells PeopleNow. “It was really fun and scary to figure that out because if you mess up those words, people get pretty upset.”

After seeing wife Maren Morris‘ IG post and Ryan’s tweet about the cover, Swift took to Twitter to stamp her approval with a reply saying “love this so much.”

“I met her at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas when Maren was a special guest for her Reputation Tour,” he continues. “She’s very sweet. She’s obviously like one of the most respected songwriters that we’ve ever had and obviously comes from the Country music world which is our world. So I was just kind of blown away that she knew we were.  Maren had obviously come off success with ‘The Middle’ and that’s what they were singing that night, but she knew all of my songs. I was pretty impressed with how tuned in she was.”

The release of “False God” follows Hurd’s “Wish for the World” live video that dropped last week, which features behind-the-scenes footage from the PLATONIC Tour.
