Do you remember when we jetted to Turks and Caicos last year for a weekend in paradise with Lee Brice, Jerrod Niemann, and Dylan Scott? Well, Sandals Resorts hosted another Story Behind the Songs concert in Jamaica last week and OBVIOUSLY we had to go and check it out!
Featuring Kip Moore, Lauren Alaina, and James Barker Band, the latest installment in the luxury resort’s concert series took place at the newly-renovated Sandals South Coast in Whitehouse, Jamaica and was filled with great drinks and even better performances.
With thunderstorms putting a little delay on the festivities, we, and the rest of the country music fans at the resort, stuck out the rain and waited until we could enjoy the real reason why we made the trip to paradise — to see an intimate concert with our favorite artists!

First up were Canada’s own James Barker Band who turned the night from gloomy to electric in a matter of seconds. Performing songs off their latest album Game On, the band revealed stories behind their biggest earworms, including “It’s Working,” “Lawn Chair Crazy,” “Just Sayin’,” and of course their No. 1 hit “Chills.” Our favorite story of them all had to be about “Lawn Chair Crazy;” did you know it came about because they wanted to say “beer” three times in a row in a song?

Following James Barker Band was American Idol alum and rising country artist Lauren Alaina. 2017 has been such a whirlwind for the 22-year-old songstress as she not only overcame lots of challenges, but also had her very first No. 1 with “Road Less Traveled.”
Lauren’s stories behind her songs had to be the most personal ones we’ve heard yet. From singing about her Georgia roots and “Doin’ Fine” after her parent’s divorce to accepting everyone and not listening to people’s harsh opinions, the “Road Less Traveled” singer put it all out there on the beachfront stage.
Aside from her moving stories, our favorite part of her performance HAD to be when she sang “Next Boyfriend.” Lauren brought super fan Tim on stage so he can dance with his “next girlfriend.” The result? A fire stanky leg!

Following Lauren Alaina, headliner Kip Moore took the stage and the crowd was SO ready for it!
Even though Moore opted not to go too deep with the stories behind his songs, everyone still had a blast listening to the country crooner play some of his biggest hits and songs off his recently released album Slowheart.
While we LOVED jamming out to Moore’s “More Girls Like You,” our favorite memory from his set was when he performed his new song “I’ve Been Around.” It has SUCH a Bruce Springsteen vibe! Another standout moment was when Kip sang “Beer Money;” a classic off Up All Night, Moore knew how to end his set with a bang. Everyone sang along and danced the night away!
