Jimmy Buffett gave Music City a memorable surprise this past Monday (June 21).

Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band delivered a surprise show at Nashville’s Exit/In.The pop-up concert featured a line up of some fan-favorite hits.

The long-time country music icon also performed alongside one of his fellow famous friends in the industry. Buffett was joined on stage by country superstars Mac McAnally and Kenny Chesney. The group performed Buffett’s signature song, “Margaritaville” for the unexpecting lucky crowd.

Chesney took to Instagram to relish in the magical on stage moment, writing “Always a blast being on stage with my friends Jimmy Buffett, Mac McAnally, and the rest of the Coral Reefer Band. Thanks for the invite Jimmy.”

This performance at the Exit/In was not Buffett’s first time in the building. However, Buffett was the first act to ever play at the Exit/In.

According to The Tennessean, Exit/In co-founder Brugh Reynolds shared in a 2015 documentary for Uproxxx that Buffett was the first act to ever take their stage.

“As Exit/In co-founder Brugh Reynolds recalled, the club was under construction in the summer of 1971 when “this guy wandered in off the street.”

“He said, ‘Well, I play music,'” said Reynolds. “He went and got his guitar. I think he played a few things for us, and so Jimmy Buffett was the first act to ever play the Exit/In.”
