For this week’s New Music Friday, some of country music’s biggest stars put out soon-to-be hit songs!
Chesney took to Instagram on Sunday (December 4th) to announce that his dog Ruby, better known by the nickname Da Ruba Girl, passed away after a long battle with cancer. At the end of his lengthy tribute, Chesney said “So bye-bye, Ruby. You were a very good girl. We loved you and thank you for teaching us how to love unconditionally. You were one heaven of a dog.”
Naturally, Chesney wanted to pay tribute to Ruby by releasing this track that he had written several years prior, as well as benefit an incredible organization that will positively impact other dogs AND dog-lovers.
All proceeds from “Da Ruba Girl” will go to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a no-kill animal shelter in St. Louis that rescues injured, abandoned and betrayed stray dogs and cats. In another Instagram post yesterday (December 8th) Chesney said “What I’m more excited about is, Ruby’s life gets to mean something… Ruby’s life is gonna pay it forward, if you will, through this song… I’m very, very proud of that.”
Aside from this incredibly heartfelt and powerful track, there were several other INCREDIBLE singles featured on this week’s New Music Friday playlist, including “it’s been a year” by Ashley Cooke, “NEED A FAVOR” by Jelly Roll, “Truth Is” by Lily Rose, “Love You Again” by Chase Matthews, “Moment” by Halle Kearns, “Pound Cake” by Drake White, “Ain’t For Sale” by Ryan Waters Band, “No More” by Joey Greer, “BREAK IT IN A BAR” by Graham Barham, “Always Wanted To” by Garrett Hedlund, “Caretaker” by Gavin Adcock, “Play The Fool” by Blake Henderson, “dark nights” by Rob Mayes and more.
On top of ALL of these releases, Cheat Codes and Matt Stell teamed up for “When You Know,” Larry Fleet and Mike Ryan for “Quittin’ Ain’t Workin’” and Savannah Dexter and Bravo Gator for “One Way Train,” resulting in three collaborations we seriously can’t stop streaming.
In addition to these singles AND collaborations, several albums and EPs were released as well, including Born in July (The Album) [Deluxe with Commentary] by Taylor Edwards, The Nashville Sessions by Kidd G, Drove Me Country by Brandon Ratcliff, Tell Somebody ‘Bout You by Adam Sanders, Hits Home by Landon Parker, First Christmas in Love by Jordana Bryant and more.
