The country music trio Lady A received a shocking surprise while taping their performance for the upcoming NBC special Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years of Country Music. On Sunday, February 14, fans will see the iconic moment when Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley, and Hillary Scott was asked to join the Grand Ole Opry by music legend Darius Rucker

While the trio was gearing up to play, Rucker walked out onto the historic stage to deliver the incredible news. Lady A was first caught off guard to see Darius Rucker, but it wasn’t until he casually asked the band to join the country music institution that got them dead in their tracks. Shortly after, the “Need You Now” hitmakers expressed an abundance of emotions and gratitude towards the iconic music house.

“This is the best surprise we could ever ask for!! Today while filming for an upcoming @Opry special, @DariusRucker invited us to become the newest members of the Grand Ole Opry,” says the band on Twitter. “To say we are honored is an understatement. We are so grateful to be a part of this amazing family.”

The group began their career as Lady Antebellum. However, the bandmates recently decided to alter their Civil War – associated name “Antebellum” and cut-it-down to “Lady A” out of respect. The trio made their Grand Ole Opry debut back in 2007, and ever since then, the group became mega-successful.

The multiplatinum superstars are seven-time Grammy-award winners, sold more than 18 million albums, and most recently hit No. 1 on the Mediabase/ Country Aircheck singles chart for  “Champagne Night.” This music milestone is the group’s 11th career chart-topping hit and the first-ever track from NBC’s series Songland to become a radio single.

Therefore, it’s no secret why the Grand Ole Opry invited Lady A to become new members of their well-respected family.

Don’t forget to tune in on Valentine’s day and watch the two-hour special starting at 9 PM ET. Country stars Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton will be hosting the historic night. If you are a big Lady A fan, let us know your favorite tune below or send us a tweet at @CS_Country.
