Keifer Thompson of Thompson Square is a man full of talents, with one of them being a stand up comedian.

Gathering at Zanies Comedy Night Club in Nashville, TN on Tuesday (August 27), Thompson hosted his very first show appropriately titled “Laughs and Lyrics.” Fellow stand up comedian, Dusty Slay, co-hosted along Thompson while his muscial partner and wife, Shawna Thompson, supportively played cheerleader in the crowd.

Poking fun at his wife, Thompson performed his hilarious and original song There Ain’t No Branches On My Family Tree,” detailing his experience in a “stereotypical” Southern family.

Other Nashville songwriters to join in included Jim Beavers, Bobby Pinson and Paul Jenkins who also performed comedic originals written for the show.

Thompson isn’t a newbie when it comes to stand up comedy, as he’s been performing at Zanies for a year, with his first time hosting on Tuesday. While he has no interest in making a career change from music to comedy, he enjoys all the fun he’s having with it!

“This was something that, about a year ago, I really wanted to try. My management, my wife, and [my friends] have been bugging me about doing stand-up … I’m not trying to change my career, but just trying to have some fun,” he told All Access before the show.

Keifer’s upcoming comedy shows can be found at Zanies.com and be sure to catch Thompson Square on the road for their Nashville, Kentucky, and Mississippi performances!
