Ever since he auditioned for the tenth season of American Idol, Scotty McCreery has been always been a fan favorite. After competing for America’s votes each week, the then 17-year-old went on to win that season of Idol and become a mega country star. The question that everyone asks after someone wins a singing competition is “where are they now?” and this spring, fans will be able to get an inside look into Scotty’s life thanks to his memoir, Go Big or Go Home.

Go Big Or Go Home takes the reader on a journey through McCreery‘s life, sharing stories such as his life-altering discovery of Elvis Presley at age five, auditioning for and ultimately winning American Idol season 10, and embarking on the country music career he had always dreamed about. He also reveals how he had to grow up quickly when he was thrust into the adult world at age 17, the way he balanced his senior year of high school and college experience with his active recording and touring career, and how he put life into perspective after being robbed at gunpoint. Throughout the book, he writes of how his faith, family and friends have kept him grounded and normal in the midst of a life in the entertainment business.

Celeb Secrets Country had the opportunity to sit down with McCreery following his book signing at Bookends in Ridgewood, NJ. In our interview, the “Southern Belle” singer talks about what inspired him to become an author, the biggest challenge when it came to writing the memoir, and how the fan reaction has been so far. He also mentioned that he will be heading to the studio very soon to work on a new full-length album.
