Dolly Parton got her wish, and we couldn’t be more excited!
The country singer’s new book with James Patterson called Run, Rose, Run is getting a movie adaptation after being picked up by Reese Witherspoon‘s Hello Sunshine production company.
Since the news of the film being created, Parton has been vocal about her hopes to be a part of the cast. She told EW that she “hasn’t been in a movie in a long time, so it’s about time” she heads back into the movie making industry.
As per Parton’s wishes, it was announced yesterday (March 21) in a press release that the “Driven” singer will be starring in and co-produce the upcoming film.

“I’m proud, excited and honored to be working with my good friend Reese Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine on the movie of Run, Rose, Run from the novel I co-wrote with James Patterson,” Parton revealed in the release. “James and I love Reese and look forward to working with her and her wonderful team.”
Witherspoon also took the chance to share her excitement for the experience to collaborate with the country music icon.
“Growing up in Nashville, I’ve loved Dolly since the moment I heard her magical voice and saw her luminous personality shine onstage,” Witherspoon explained. “Beyond her magnetic presence as an artist and performer, she is one of the greatest songwriters and storytellers of our time. Her impact knows no bounds — as a musician, actor, writer, businesswoman, activist and all-around incredible human being — Dolly is not only an icon to me, but a true inspiration to women and girls everywhere.”
