On November 24, the “Truth About You” singer got down on one knee at Losers Bar & Grill in Nashville, where he met his now fiancée four years ago, and popped the big question.
In an interview with People, Tenpenny revealed that there were a lot of emotions in the moment and it definitely took some planning. “I had a whole speech planned and it disappeared [in the moment],” he shared. “I wasn’t able to say everything I wanted to. I was nervous — and relieved. She was crying, I was crying. All I wanted was to hear her say yes!”
Tenpenny made sure the moment was perfect with the room being covered with a heart of rose petals and candles surrounded by more roses, photos of the couple, and large letters that read “MARRY ME.”
“I met Meghan here so it was the perfect place — and hey, I got engaged ‘at the end of a bar!'” Tenpenny joked, which is a nod to his song with fellow hitmaker Chris Young.
Taking to Instagram to share the exciting announcement, Patrick captioned the photos, “4 years ago I walked into the back room of @losersoriginal bar, straight out of a tree stand in full camo… that was the first time @m10penny and I ever set eyes on each other, and tonight, in that same bar, I walked in (also wearing camo 😂) and he asked me a question… I’ve known the answer for a long time, and I can’t think of a better place to say yes 🖤”
