Happy New Music Friday, country fans!
It’s time to throw on your cowboy boots, pour yourself a glass of whiskey, and turn up the volume because some of the best stars out of Nashville just dropped rowdy bangers that must be on your weekend pregame playlist. Celeb Secrets Country carefully crafted a fire tracklist that will help you kick-start the party, but most importantly, the month of November on the right foot.
Scoring placement on the top of our list is Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde with their powerful anthem “Never Wanted To Be That Girl.” Pearce and McBryde tugged at heartstrings and left music-goers speechless with their heavy lyrics back in September when they released the cheating-inspired single.
Upon release, the two proved that women in country have an impactful way with words. However, the hitmakers wanted to elevate the track and bring the heated storyline to life. Therefore, they teamed up with female and first-time director Alexa Campbell and co-producer Shane McAnally to capture their parallel lives with an untrustworthy man.
As we grow up, we learn that not all love stories end happily ever after. @AshleyMcBryde & I sing our truths in “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” & the amazing @alexaaa_c brings the song to life with the official music video, out now. Watch here: https://t.co/msYhDII7nT pic.twitter.com/2BcNY9FSKc

“What’s interesting about this song is we could have gone to a place of the blame on the others in the love triangle, but we turned it inward. It’s unique that two women who never meet are getting burned by the same man and having the exact same feelings. We intentionally kept the chorus the same to reflect that neither wanted to be in this position,” shared Pearce in a recent statement.
Ashley continued to share their inspiration behind the lyrics and goal, “This song isn’t really about being the other woman or even being messed around on as much as it’s about these two people who are exhibiting behaviors they normally wouldn’t – checking text messages, making excuses for why their dates are only on Tuesdays – and realizing it’s all because of the same person.”
While putting their creative minds together, the group executed their vision perfectly in their emotional-driven music video. The award-winning vocalists will also bring the heat and sing the relatable track on November 10 at the 2021 CMA Awards.
