While country artist Joe Barron is easily regarded as an all-out star on stage, the Texas-born artist has released a new track for all the rockstars in the audience.

“Rockstar” is the latest of Barron’s work and it does not disappoint! The new tune serves as an anthem for all listeners on a night out, even those who don’t claim “rockstar” as their profession.

In an exclusive interview with Celeb Secrets Country, Barron shared with us that the idea for this song came to him after a long night performing on stage. While oftentimes feeling tired and overworked doesn’t lead to much good, It was amongst those emotions that Barron found the inspiration for his latest smash-hit single.

“I woke up one morning in my old apartment, dying from the night before,” said Barron. “I felt tired physically and mentally, and all around overworked. I sat back and took it all in, still feeling very blessed that I get to play music every single day. I had this vision of the crowd from the night before singing along to the covers I was playing, and told myself I would write something of my own for people to sing along to, that we could all relate to. So I came up with the idea of “Rockstar.” I think when it comes down to it, on a Friday or Saturday night, it doesn’t matter what you do, where you work, we are all rockstars!”

The song not only offers a relatable message but an infectious tune you will want to turn up. Barron shared that turning this song up is exactly what he wants listeners to do.

“I want them to turn it up to 10,” said Barron. “Whether they are driving in their trucks, or cars, or listening in the gym, I want this to sort of pump people up and get them going!”

And while we promise you will enjoy this song anywhere you listen, fans will also have the chance to hear this jam live. Barron will be hitting the road in October to open for Nelly’s Lil Bit of Music Series!

“It’s a dream come true,” said Barron. “Nelly was such an inspiration to me, I used to dress like him, talk like him, walk like him, and now I get to open for him. It’s definitely a full circle moment for me, especially on a tour that fuses hip-hop with country.”

Celeb Secrets Country sat down with Joe Barron (virtually) to learn more about the man behind the music, behind-the-scenes details and what’s next for the fast-blooming artist.

Celeb Secrets Country: Congratulations on your upcoming single “Rockstar”! Tell me about the creative history of this song!

Joe Barron: “Thank you! I woke up one morning in my old apartment, dying from the night before. I felt tired physically and mentally, and all around overworked.

CSC: Your path to a career in music was quite the journey and I feel this song really does pay homage to that! If you could tell your younger self on that journey one thing what would it be?

JB: “Be patient, work hard, and never give up. You don’t know it yet but one day it’s all going to pay off. You are going to wake up every single morning loving what you do. You’ll be tired as hell, but once you hit that stage, nothing else will matter.”

CSC: You have such a wide range of genres that you mix with country grit. How would you describe this track and were there any artists who inspired this song sonically?

JB: “This song stems from a whole lot of inspirations throughout my younger years. My first major concert was a group called Cowboy Mouth fronted by their drummer Fred Leblanc. To this day, there’s only one other entertainer comparable to him and in my opinion, that’s Garth Brooks. Sonically there’s definitely some heavy guitar and drums, which I’d have to say come from my Cross Canadian ragweed influences. Our producer Andrew Baylis really made all of my visions for this song come true.”

CSC: When listeners get to hear this song for the first time, what is it you want them to think during their first listen?

JB: “I want them to turn it up to 10. Whether they are driving in their trucks, or cars, or listening in the gym, I want this to sort of pump people up and get them going!”

CSC: I hope that you will be taking this hit with you on the road for your upcoming tour with Nelly! You have opened for so many incredible artists. What does this next milestone mean for you?

JB: “It’s a dream come true. Nelly was such an inspiration to me, I used to dress like him, talk like him, walk like him, and now I get to open for him. It’s definitely a full circle moment for me, especially on a tour that fuses hip-hop with country.”

CSC: How did you and Nelly cross paths to embark on this new tour?

JB: “My manager Chelsea Smith has been grinding these past few months, and this is all on her. I’m just lucky to be a part of something so special. Hopefully down the road Nelly and I can be friends, maybe have a song together.”

CSC: What are you looking forward to most when hitting the road?

JB: “Meeting new people and making fans, and just establishing those relationships that will hopefully be around for years to come. It’ll also be nice to get some of that Texas cooking.”

CSC: With so many exciting things in the works, what is next for you beyond these projects?

JB: “A full length album is definitely in the works for 2022, I’m also hoping to get on the road more. I really think this next year is going to be a good one.”

CSC: And since we are Celeb Secrets, is there any behind the scenes secret you can share about “Rockstar” that we wouldn’t know just from listening?

JB: “When we were in the studio, there was a harmony that was just too high for me to reach, so my producer asked Chelsea, my manager, if she thought she could hit it. It was her first time ever recording. She didn’t even know how to check the mic, but she got in there and nailed it on the first take! It was really cool to see and just shows what kind of team I have in her.”
