Sacha is taking us behind the scenes of her new dignity-inspired music video for “Standards,” and Celeb Secrets Country has your exclusive first look.
For those who don’t know, Sacha is a rising musician, whose unique background is quickly getting her attention for all the right reasons in Music City. It’s not every day that you meet a country music star from Ontario, Canada, but Sacha says it’s the genre that made the most sense for her to pursue.
“I’ve loved all sorts of music.” Sacha says, “but when I picked up a guitar and started writing, my story is best told in the genre of country music.”
Written by the songwriting trio of Mackenzie Porter, Karen Kosowski and Emma-Lee, Sacha says her new song “Standards” was meant to bring something different to the regular musical roster by inspiring others to embrace their self-worth.

Sacha says, “That’s what that song is about, is finding someone that values your standards without you having to drop your solo in a fun and, you know, kind of swaggy way.”
The music video, which was released in March, references the conditions that many folks keep in mind when looking for a significant other. You see her make full use of her clipboard with a checklist as she scopes all of the potential candidates lining up to meet her. Her dog Trooper even makes a cameo to give his opinion on which guy can make the cut. The song also clearly resonated with viewers who were able to watch it, as it has now racked over 16,000 views.
“The song has actually changed my life, like ‘Standards’ in and of itself has gotten me top 50 in the Canadian Country Billboard charts when it came out.” Sacha says.
“Standards” appears on her most recent EP, THE BEST THING, which was released in 2020 and produced by CCMA Producer of the Year Nominee, Dan Swinimer. The singer/songwriter has been featured as iHeart Radio’s Future Star, won Canada’s The Next Country Music Star and “Standards” charted both the Top 50 Canadian Country Billboard and Top 40 Mediabase Canadian Country charts. She has also achieved over 1 million global streams and is apart of CMT’s Next Women of Country class for 2021.

In the behind-the-scenes video, we learn how much Sacha enjoyed filming every minute of the visual her new single. She tells CS Country how she was able to add a personal touch to the video, as her identical twin sister, Tasha, had the opportunity to design one of the looks that she wears throughout “Standards.”
This year, Sacha says she hopes to have the opportunity to perform live soon. Despite having lots of fun shooting visuals, her dream is to go on tour. “I live for that,” she says, “I live for the, every time I get to get on stage, being behind screens is it’s just not the same kind of, kind of ordeal.”
