Artists across country music dream of being announced as a nominee for the Academy of Country Music Awards‘ new group or duo, female, and male vocalist categories as it proves you are in the fast track to stardom on Music Row.
This year, budding artists Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Devin Dawson, Russell Dickerson, Brett Young, Lauren Alaina, Danielle Bradbery, Carly Pearce, RaeLynn, High Valley, LANCO, LOCASH, Midland, and Runaway June were all up for this prestigious honor, but on Monday (March 26), three snagged the coveted titles.
ACM Awards host Reba McEntire set out to shock winners Midland, Lauren Alaina, and Brett Young by personally calling them to congratulate them on winning New Vocal Duo or Group, New Female Vocalist, and New Male Vocalist of the Year, respectfully, and their reactions were absolutely PRICELESS.
The ACM for New Vocal Group of the Year goes to @MidlandOfficial! And yes, that really was @Reba on the phone! #ACMawards pic.twitter.com/yfYJptBejW

Like every post, I’ve got to start with a pun. The best thing that has happened to me in my “McEntire” life. Now that that’s out of the way… I won an ACM. AND @reba called to tell me. Today my country-loving heart is exploding. Thank you to my team. This award is for ALL of us pic.twitter.com/K2eiP2ZkeK
