Being a coffee lover, it was only fitting that Trisha Yearwood ventured to The Roasterie while in Kansas City for a “coffee 101” themed T’s Coffee Talk.

Trisha, along with her friends Mandy, Kim and Lisa, sported hair nets as they received a crash course on coffee beans from around the world. The women had the opportunity to sample coffees from Columbia, Peru and Nepal, as well as a specialty nitro-cold brew that is the “Guinness” of coffee. They learned that the proper way to taste each type was to “slurp” from a tasting spoon, which brought many giggles as they went around the table to give their best attempt.

The second item on Trisha’s KC wish list was to try their famous BBQ. She laughed that she had brought her own Williams-Sonoma BBQ Sauce along with her, but is excited to experience how the city makes theirs.

After a thorough crash course and plenty of slurping, Trisha and her friends found themselves sufficiently caffeinated for the day. Trisha announced that today’s episode of Trisha’s Southern Kitchen was a special encore presentation, called “Trisha Goes to Boot Camp”. Trisha whipped up a healthy menu that was low in calorie, but high on flavor, including Kale Chips, Lemony Orzo Chicken Soup, Chickpea Salad Sandwiches and an Angel Food Cake with Grapefruit Compote.
