Fast-rising trio Runaway June are making history as the days go by!
Already in 2017, band members Naomi Cooke, Hannah Mulholland, and Jennifer Wayne have celebrated multiple career landmarks, as they have opened shows for the legendary Garth Brooks and Willie Nelson. The gypsy-hearted female group have also been tapped as an “artist to watch” from many prestigious music outlets.
Last year, the girls released their debut single “Lipstick,” which catapulted into the Top 25 at Country radio last week. Did you know the track smashed a decade-old record becoming the first all-female trio in over ten years to earn a Top 25 hit on the Mediabase Country chart?
“Lipstick is the positive side of a breakup,” Naomi Cooke tells Celeb Secrets Country in an interview. “Our music is not aiming for just one gender; we really like to be inclusive when it comes to our music. The message of the song is to be with someone that makes you happy; hopefully we are inspiring guys to ruin the lipstick, not the mascara.”
The fun song also has an adorable music video starring none other than The Bachelorette’s Luke Pell.
“The music video was a collaborative process, however, our director had the idea of the vintage road trip-type setting. Luke Pell had just come off the Bachelorette — he’s a singer/songwriter in town and he’s super handsome so he was the perfect dreamboat to star in this video,” Hannah Mulholland shares.
Naomi, Hannah, and Jennifer stopped by the studio recently to dish on everything that happened at the music video shoot, including working with Luke Pell! Check out the full video below to learn more about the concept, what happened behind-the-scenes, and more.
Runaway June will continue to dazzle audiences coast to coast on a mixture of headlining and supporting dates as well as several major country music festivals this summer. Keep up with the trio by following them on Twitter at @runawayjune.
