BBR Music Group/Wheelhouse Records country artist Dylan Schneider is the king of hustling.
He’s amassed over 30M digital streams and 119M TikTok views, penned Dustin Lynch’s Top 5 single “Momma’s House” by the age of 18, and obtained a viral song, “Ain’t Missin’ You,” by 23. The now 24-year-old has quite the accomplishments under his belt, but his newest achievement is getting the courage to open up about the sad autobiographical tale discussed in his new single “Daddy Drinks Whiskey.”

Written with childhood buddy Gabe Foust and Nate Kenyon, “Daddy Drinks Whiskey” shares Schneider’s viewpoint on his father’s alcoholism. He shares what it’s like to grow up playing ball with his dad and cherishing his early upbringing, but seeing the changes in his father and his father’s addiction as he ages and grows into adulthood. Most country artists capitalize on this beloved drink, but Billboard’s Country Music’s Next Rising Star offers a differing perspective on it.
Schneider told Celeb Secrets Country host Juliet Schroder on the red carpet at the 2023 BMI Country Awards in Nashville earlier this month that the song is a very personal one for him.
“It’s a little glimpse and look into my life the last few years and it’s for people, you know, that have ever dealt with a similar situation and they need to hear it. I hope it helps them out and lets them know they’re not alone, but, I’m very proud of that song. It’s probably the most personal song I’ve ever put out.”
“It was something I don’t do often,” Schneider confessed when asked about how hard it was to release a personal song of this magnitude. He continued, “I got to play it at the Grand Ole Opry which was a true honor. That was the first time I’ve ever played it live and it was a little nerve-wracking but I got through it and I’m glad it’s out there.”
