Brooks & Dunn are back, baby!
After spending time in Sin City with Reba McEntire for their Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas residency, one of the genre’s most iconic duos are taking their No. 1 album Reboot on the road this summer.
“I like seeing what a new city is going to look like and what those fans are going to be,” Kix Brooks said in a media session, with Ronnie Dunn adding that being on the road is like “climbing back on the horse that we almost killed 20 years ago.”
Tapped as the Reboot 2022 Tour, the nationwide run kicks off in Evansville, IN on May 5th and hit major cities in Middle America before wrapping in Detroit, MI on June 25th. These string of shows are important to Kix and Ronnie, as some cities and venues mark the award-winning duo’s return for the first time in over a decade, and some in over 20 years.
Although they are known for their extravagant live shows, Brooks & Dunn explain that the on-stage props and confetti aren’t necessarily what people remember.
“The goal when we started out was for that music to have longevity, above and beyond the tricks on stage,” Dunn shares.
That’s not to say they won’t bring the “sizzle,” but production will be something they have never done before.
The duo says that they have sent all of their inflatable women to The Rolling Stones and the big glitter steer heads are currently decorating their homes, and they want the music to speak for itself.
“The simplicity of acts like ZZ Topp who did some raw stuff that let the music jam like it was supposed to, that’s kind of how we approached this,” Brooks explains. “We’re just trying to do something that’s different that still makes people go, ‘Wow, that’s cool.'”
Gabby Barrett, Jordan Davis, Riley Green, Walker Hayes, Jon Pardi, Tenille Townes, Morgan Wade, Jackson Dean, King Calaway, Dillion Carmichael, and Tyler Braden are all of the lucky artists that scored a spot on the Reboot 2022 Tour, performing at various dates over the course of the summer.
Brooks & Dunn are excited to introduce their fans to the future faces in the genre, and they opened up to Celeb Secrets Country about how they chose each artist for each show.
“[The criteria is basically] who is off, what night are you off, and who do you like?” Brooks revealed, adding that all of their openers “fit in” and they’re all “legit.”
Artists like Keith Urban, Toby Keith, and even Jason Aldean have opened for Brooks & Dunn over the years, moving on to having their own successful careers and paving the way for the future of Country music.
CS Country reporter Kassidy Stewart asked the guys what advice they would share to this year’s set of promising opening acts, and their response was simply just to “chill out and go with the flow.”
that has helped themselves have longevity. Simply just “chill out and go with the flow”. Dunn says, “You just have to put one foot in front of the other, and that’s what we did. We never had it figured out or planned out or mapped out. You go with the flow, keep your head together, and do what you have to do and be glad you’re there and have an opportunity to do what you love,” Dunn said, with Brooks adding, “All you can do is the best you can do.”
