Happy New Music Friday, country fans!
Can you believe it is already 2022? Megastars out of the honky-tonk town rang in the new year by proving that live music is back and here to stay. On Friday, December 31, CBS Network aired over 50 performances from some of Nashville’s hottest hitmakers. Across the electric city, chart-topping musicians like Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Jimmie Allen, Gabby Barrett, Dierks Bentley, and more shared fan-favorite bangers, chilling covers and interacted with country music fanatics in person.
After a long night of partying, these musicians did not get tired. In fact, they rolled into the New Year with their eye on the prize and feeling energized. January 7 marks the first Friday of the year, and the list of new releases are better than ever!
Scoring the No.1 placement on Celeb Secrets Country’s first New Music Friday of the year is Maren Morris and her reminiscent anthem “Circles Around This Town.” Morris is set to celebrate her nine-year anniversary in music city in just a few days. So, in honor of her rapid rise to fame – the powerhouse vocalist sat down with her husband Ryan Hurd and co-writers Julia Michaels and Jimmy Robbins to pen the full-circle ballad.
The mid-tempo track that displays her goosebump-provoking vocal range pays homage to her career-altering hits “My Church” and “80s Mercedes.” However, throughout the moving melody, she also opens up about the struggles of being a singer-songwriter in a competitive town.
“So many times I thought about leaving/ got my ass kicked trying to compete with/ everybody else’s ones that got away/ hung around long enough to catch a break,” she sings. Along with the honest hit, Morris dropped a retro-inspired music video that features country music icon, Reba McEntire.
