Big news for Yellowstone fans! Paramount+ just announced that a closer look into the Dutton family’s life is coming sooner than expected, as the network’s new prequel 1883 drops this December.
According to the streaming platform, 1883 will follow the Dutton family and tell the stories of their travels. The show will go deeper into the family’s life and their hopes of fleeing poverty and finding a better future in America’s promised land — Montana.
From the trailer, fans can expect a star-filled cast with names like Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sam Elliott, Isabel May, LaMonica Garrett, and Billy Bob Thornton set to star in the series.
In August, Faith Hill shared the news on her Instagram announcing that she would be in 1883.
“Finally the day has come when I get to share some exciting news with you!” Hill shared. “I will be playing Margaret Dutton, the original matriarch of the Dutton family in the Yellowstone prequel 1883. Just wait, you have never seen anything like this!”

Husband and co-star, Tim McGraw also took to social media to share his excitement for this project.
“So excited I can finally share this….I’m joining the Dutton family in the @Yellowstone prequel, 1883, coming to @paramountplus!” he captioned a video on Instagram. “And my incredible wife @faithhill will be playing Margaret Dutton!!”
