Country songstress Reyna Roberts has quickly proven to be a one-to-watch.
After receiving public praise from stars like Carrie Underwood, Mickey Guyton and more, Roberts has amassed quite the growing fan base and for good reason, as the “Stompin’ Grounds” singer packs a whole lot of punch with her powerhouse voice.
After turning heads and making waves with her rock-esque debut single, Roberts is far from done making her mark. “Raised Right,” Roberts’ latest single, is officially out today, (Aug., 27) and boy is it noteworthy!
The new track sports some addicting lyrics, a make-you-wanna-dance beat and a more “swampy” sound, as Roberts puts it in an exclusive Celeb Secrets Country interview. Roberts shared with us that this specific sound is one of many that she has up her sleeve.
“…Because I’ve been influenced with so many different genres I write so many different sounds. There’s so many different parts of me,” Roberts said. “Like, I’m sure from like the audience perspective, hearing ‘Raised Right,’ it’s going to sound different from ‘Stompin’ Grounds.’ It has like similar energy, but you know, sonically, it’s not as rock. It’s a lot more swampy sounding than ‘Stompin’ Grounds.’ But for me, that’s how I write. I write those different kinds of sounds at different times.”

Pulling her mix of sonic styles from different genres, the Alaska-born artist also pulls her ideas for songs from inspiration all around her. Fans might be surprised to learn that the title for this new song actually came to Roberts while watching a Star Wars movie.
“So let me just tell you, this is going to sound really nerdy, but the actual title of the song, I got the title from watching The Rise of Skywalker Star Wars in theater. I was watching my favorite character, um, Kylo Ren and as I was watching his speech for the first time, I thought of the title ‘Raised Right’ and I was like, ‘Whoa, that is a super cool title. Um, that could be a really awesome story…'” she explains.
Having now taken the idea for an awesome story and turned into an incredible song, Roberts is undeniably on the track for super stardom. With a plan to achieve just that and more, the girl on fire has big plans for her legacy as an artist.

“I want to have songs that outlive me,” Roberts said. “I want to create songs that are, that are great enough for them to live beyond me. And I also want to be able to, like all the the idols that have inspired me, I want to be able to inspire people that are younger than me like that in that way.”
Celeb Secrets Country sat down with Roberts (virtually) to learn more about the fast blooming artist, her new single, and what’s to come from the rising country music star.

Celeb Secrets Country: You have performed the song a couple of times live! How does it feel to finally have it be officially released?
Reyna Roberts: “Oh my goodness. I’ve been counting down the days. Like I’ve been waiting for people to hear this song for so long. I’m so happy because people like live responded to it really great. Like people really love the song and I’m happy that they’ll actually get to hear the actual recording of it finally.”
CSC: What inspired you when you wrote this song?
RR: “A lot of different things. So let me just tell you, this is going to sound really nerdy, but the actual title of the song, I got the title from watching The Rise of Skywalker Star Wars in theater. I was watching my favorite character, um, Kylo Ren and as I was watching his speech for the first time, I thought of the title “Raised Right” and I was like, ‘Whoa, that is a super cool title. Um, that could be a really awesome story.’ So I wrote the title down, a few lines and then I had a few melodies with it. And so my first time writing with Kylie and Danny were actually over Zoom. It was our first time meeting and all the things. And so I was like, ‘Y’all I have a title. Uh, I have an idea of a story. Let me know what, what you think of it.’ And so I told them the title and the melody and they were like, ‘This is, this is awesome. Let’s go with it.’ When we were talking about the sound of it, I was like, ‘I’m wanting something really swampy, um, front porch feeling but that also drives and, you know, that builds and builds and builds and something that’s kinda like Gretchen Wilson wild, something that has a lot of great energy to it.’ And so then we started talking about my life being incorporated, and we incorporated some of my life stories into the song.”
CSC: I know you grew up on a pretty broad mix of artists. Did any of those artists inspire elements of this track?
RR: “Definitely! Well, I will say Gretchen Wilson for sure. I listened to her the most growing up. My mom played her CD all the time back to back to back but I feel like I got the influences of them, like, especially in my voice, because I was singing their songs all the time. And so all of those artists that I listen to, I feel like has an element of all their voices together.”
CSC: Would you say that your style, vision or sound has changed in any way since “Stompin’ Grounds”?
RR: “Well, I will say that to other people probably. Because I’ve been influenced with so many different genres I write so many different sounds. There’s so many different parts of me. Like, I’m sure from like the audience perspective, hearing ‘Raised Right,’ it’s going to sound different from ‘Stompin’ Grounds.’ It has like similar energy, but you know, sonically, it’s not as rock. It’s a lot more swampy sounding than ‘Stompin’ Grounds.’ But for me, that’s how I write. I write those different kinds of sounds at different times.”
CSC: So, can we anticipate a music video for the song? Please say yes!
RR: “Ooh, I can’t answer that. It’s a secret!”
CSC: How do you plan to celebrate the song’s release?
RR: “Well, if I’m being a hundred percent honest, the first thing that popped in my head was I’m probably going to watch The Rise of Skywalker with my family. That’s honestly what we’re going to do. We’re going to sit down and we’re going to watch TV together and honestly just spend quality time together. That’s a celebration to me, being with the people that I love.”
CSC: You’ve been quoted to say “It’s inevitable, I’m going to be a superstar.” What would you say is your biggest goal as far as your legacy as an artist?
RR: “I want to have songs that outlive me. I want to create songs that are, that are great enough for them to live beyond me. And I also want to be able to, like all the the idols that have inspired me, I want to be able to inspire people that are younger than me like that in that way.”
