Life is full of exciting changes for Rascal Flatts‘ frontrunner Gary LeVox!

After spending almost two decades in the award-winning trio that parted ways in 2020, LeVox made his solo debut today (March 19) with the release of his new Christian single “The Distance” and is ready for the new challenges and benefits that come along with being a new solo artist.

Having such a close bond with former bandmates Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney, it’s understandable how LeVox’s new musical freedom could lead to a sense of uncertainty on who to trust as well as some writer’s block.

“It’s weird because you’re kind of waiting for the other two guys to bounce things off of. I’m not going like, ‘Well what don’t you like about it?’ Or, ‘What do you think about it? What do you think we could do better? Do you think it’s good or bad?’ You’re making all those decisions. So internally you’re doing a lot of prayer,” LeVox shared.

The singer-songwriter went on to explain to Celeb Secrets Country the difficulties of having to put trust into producers and other songwriters who he hadn’t previously known or worked with.

“I was talking to a producer I haven’t used before and it’s hard to trust people with your babies and having that discussion with someone you don’t really know,” Gary tells CS Country. “I know him well now and we’re super tight. I trust him and I think we’ve come up with a really incredible project so I’m just gonna see how the fans react and how they like it. I’m ready to go for as long as they want to do it.”

On the flip side, having the main and final say in the music he releases definitely has its perks.

“It feels great to make the music that I want to make. It’s nice to have one opinion on what you’re cutting. It was time for a new season and it feels good. I’ve had plenty of time through this pandemic stuff to really create and cut some new stuff. I’m just thrilled about it,” he shared with various media.

“The Distance” is the first taste of LeVox’s solo project. The uplifting and encouraging Christian tune offers hope through Jesus even in the darkest of times, which is a really important message with depression rates being at an all time high during the pandemic. Growing up in the church, Faith has played a huge factor in the Ohio native’s life, which he credits to keeping him grounded and on “the narrow road.”

“We grew up in the church; my whole family [attend] every Wednesday and twice on Sunday, so Faith has always been a huge foundation in my life,” he shared. “It’s what kept me grounded. My Faith is such a huge part of who I am, so that’s why it’s so important for me to do a project [like this] at some point.”

“I think as a Christian, you’re kind of renewing your faith everyday, especially when things are stacked up against you with this pandemic and everything else,” he continued, “But [Faith] started at birth for me so I’m just trying to stay on the narrow road.”
