We’re barely a month into the new year and Brett Young already has a ton of projects lined up.
From launching his BY40 Challenge to hosting his own Caliville Weekend music festival in Palm Springs this June, it’s safe to say that the future is looking bright for the “Lady” singer regardless of the obstacles he may face due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
When chatting with Celeb Secrets Country back in October, Young confirmed to our reporters that fans can expect a ton of new music over the course of 2021 in addition to his previously announced side ventures mentioned earlier. With more time at home with his wife Taylor Mills Young and daughter Presley, the 39-year-old says that the new material perfectly represents this stage in his life — being a dad while balancing a Country music career in a global pandemic.
“This record is important to me because it represents this stage of my life. It’s a very different stage than I’ve ever been in before,” Young tells CS Country. “I didn’t go into this thinking I had any idea of how to raise a child — let alone a little girl — and that’s what I’m in the middle of now. I watched that affect my songwriting.”
If you’re expecting to hear some heartfelt ballads about being a new dad, think again. After releasing singles like “In Case You Didn’t Know,” “Catch,” “Mercy,” and “Lady,” Young is happy to share that he’s gearing towards releasing some more uptempo songs on his new project, describing the sound “outside of the box” for him.
“Besides being a new dad being reflected in the songwriting, we tried to push tempo and sonically tried to do some things that were a little outside of the box for me. I kind of lived in that ballad world selfishly — I know the fans are still turning that on in the car, but for radio, you need to change things up. We’ve definitely kind of pushed that line a little bit. Sonically there are things that you’ve haven’t heard with more tempo and dad and husband stuff as well.”
