He’s back, y’all!
After taking the title for “Entertainer of the Year” at the 54th Academy of Country Music Awards last April, Keith Urban will return to the stage for a different role at the ACM Awards this year — the night’s emcee.
The announcement was made just minutes ago by the Academy of Country Music and CBS in a press statement, which also welcomed the news that nominees for the show will be revealed later this morning at a digital press conference hosted on the Academy of Country Music’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts starting at 8:30 AM ET, with the full list of nominations coming on ACMcountry.com at 9:00 AM ET.
In addition to sharing that he’s hosting the show, Urban confirmed that new music is officially on the way with the release of his latest single “God Whispered Your Name” earlier today. The song is expected to be followed by several international releases before an album release later this year.
“As if having a new song out today wasn’t enough, I also get to host the ACM Awards in April,” said Urban. “I’ll tell you – this year already feels like the most creative and energized year of my life… and there’s so much more to come. Incredibly grateful – and ready to roll!”
The 55th ACM Awards will feature exciting performances, unprecedented collaborations, surprising moments and more to be announced in the coming months. The show will air LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 5th @ 8PM ET/PT on CBS.
