Bubbly Stephanie Quayle is showing the world she has a vulnerable side with the release of her new song “Ugly.”
Co-written by powerhouse songwriters Nicolle Galyon (Miranda Lambert’s “Automatic” / Dan & Shay’s “Tequila”) and Audra Mae (Lambert’s “Little Red Wagon” / Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song”) the lyrics take us on an emotional journey from a woman’s perspective.
“We’ve all been limited by ourselves and others’ words. To own our flaws and imperfections, and to own where we are and where we are going is beautiful — it’s far from ugly.” shared Quayle.
Releasing the music video last week, the moving visual — directed by Jeff Johnson — shows a more vulnerable side to Quayle with an empowering message to convey.
Quayle delivers the song with passion, revealing that it truly is the simple things in life that are so #FarFromUgly. She sings:
So give me a rusty old grain silo
Give me good food that sticks to my bones
Thank you for that good good man that loves me
He loves me with dirt on my hands
And scrapes on my knees
The feeling at night when I wash it all clean
I’m telling you girls it’s a beautiful thing
Trust me
It’s so far from Ugly
“Ugly” has had a hold of my heart since the first time I heard the work tape from Nicolle [Galyon] and Audra Mae,” says Quayle. “Every time I perform this song, I watch the impact of these words in the listener’s eyes. There’s no one this song doesn’t touch.”
Quayle‘s “Ugly” music video and #FarFromUgly campaign will be supporting the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women– a national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women. Fans may donate to the cause here.
