We can’t wait for Brett Eldredge‘s new album next week!

To get us even more hyped for its release, the country singer is revealing more songs off the self-titled record. Known for his fun-loving personality, Eldredge breaks down “Crystal Clear” and “Brother,” two upbeat songs that have deeper roots.

“I wrote ‘Crystal Clear’ at a time when there was a lot of racial tension in the world – there always has been, but this was a moment when it was really hitting the media,” Eldredge explained of the track he co-wrote alongside Heather Morgan and Jordan Reynolds. “I was down in the islands and I was in a situation where everybody was just loving everybody. It didn’t matter the color of your skin, it didn’t matter anything. You can go to that place in your mind where you can see beyond all the hate, and I think this song is about that. It’s like, let’s run away from all the madness in this world. There are crystal clear waters out there, there’s a brighter future, there’s a brighter place with sunny, blue skies and white sandy beaches.”

Though touching on a different topic, Eldredge’s “Brother” (co-written with Tom Douglas) similarly approaches a difficult subject with an uplifting attitude. The song tells the story of growing up with his real-life brother Brice and the support they each provide for the other.

Said Eldredge: “A couple of years ago, my brother was going through a tough time. He was kind of heartbroken, but I think, as brothers, you don’t always talk about a lot of things. You try to play it tough. So instead of having a talk I wrote the song. We’re all way too sensitive in life to not be able to tell somebody our feelings and say we care about them and that we love them. That’s what ‘Brother’ is about.”

You can catch Brett on NBC’s TODAY for a three-hour residency beginning at 8:00 AM local time on August 7th. In addition to interviews and co-hosting duties throughout the morning, Eldredge will take the Citi Concert Series stage to perform some of his biggest hits along with brand new music from his self-titled album, due August 4.
