You may know Terry McBride as the front-runner from McBride & The Ride, but now the country singer is working on solo music!

McBride released his solo EP Hotels & Highways on February 24th, and he told us all about it during Country Radio Seminar this year.

“We had a listening party for Hotels & Highways and we opened it up with an EPK to get the ball rolling. They can be stiff, but that one had a good feel!” McBride told Celeb Secrets Country during our interview. “The EPK made it personal and I knew a lot of people there so that made it comfortable.”

“This whole project, I hadn’t planned on doing anything. I had fortunately been making a good living over the years writing songs for people and producing a couple of things. I cannot complain. But I had sort of abandoned the artist side of it because of the success from being a writer, and that was driving me, I was on the road with Brooks & Dunn for 13 years, played in the band for the past 3 years, so I was doing a lot of stuff but I just wasn’t in the spotlight. Fortunately, some people around me thought I should do something. For whatever reason, the timing is right and the songs feel right. That’s the way it should be,” he added.

While chatting with him, we discovered that he has the best stories and you could listen to him talk for hours without getting bored. We even had the chance to listen to Hotels & Highways, and the six-song extended play is fantastic and flows so well; we cannot get over how well it is produced.

“‘Hotels and Highways’ is a song I started writing for someone else like I usually do, because I wasn’t doing anything, but as the song progressed and the chorus just spoke to me, it embodies everything I’ve done for the past 40 years- from being a struggling musician, touring with my father, I’ve lived in and out of that suitcase, I’ve lived in and out of that room, it is so lonely at times. But that song just spoke to me, and got the whole ball rolling.”

If you’re looking for that contemporary, yet classic country record to play in your car this summer, McBride‘s is the one for you. He feels that Hotels & Highways is “cool and current” while having a “Jason Aldean vibe.”

“Everybody feels that it still sounds current, its not a throwback record. I’ve got a cool country shuffle that is more classic country than the rest of them, and I do love classic country, but for the most part it sounds like Jason Aldean,McBride says. “It is cool and current. I didn’t want it to be something uncomfortable to listen to. I know I can still sing and write songs, this is a small accumulation of songs I liked in the moment. This project is getting me to open the door at looking at other projects. There are all kinds of opportunities! With the single out, I’ve been getting instant great feedback through social media. It is so fulfilling and rewarding!”
