Celeb Secrets Country has always had a knack for discovering the stars of tomorrow, and we’re proud to say that Brett Landin has officially been added to our list of talent that’s set for a bright future.

The emerging female country artist is originally from Dallas, TX, however, she has packed her things to take country music by storm in the Big Apple. Finding a passion for writing songs at the mere age of eleven, Brett would tinker on her guitar and piano and put on shows for her family. Fast forward a few years (and a global pandemic) later and Brett has a debut EP, eight songs and even more things on the way.

“I love making music and telling stories and with every song I write and co-write, want to bring authentic voices and storytelling to life,” Brett tells Celeb Secrets Country in an exclusive Q&A.

Bridging the gap between pop and country with a tinge of rock influence, her performances are both dainty yet powerful. Within the last year, Brett’s released her debut EP Who Knew, which was produced and co-written by Nashville legendary producer Christopher Harris (Reba, Amy Grant) and features the Spotify Fresh Finds Country single “Small Town Girl.” She’s also performed at venues like The Troubadour, Hotel Café, NYC’s Bowery Electric, and Rockwood Music Hall, and inked a set at the Beachlife Ranch Musical Festival alongside Wynonna Judd and Brad Paisley.

Today (February 23), Landin releases her first single of the year, “Leaving Boots,” which she tells CS Country is “a fun and catchy song that [she] hopes makes its way into the brains and playlists of people who love a good boot-tapping ‘leave him’ anthem.”

Celeb Secrets Country: For people who aren’t aware just yet, who is Brett Landin?

Brett Landin: “Hi y’all! I’m Brett Landin. I am a singer songwriter from Dallas, TX! I love making music and telling stories and with every song I write and co-write, want to bring authentic voices and storytelling to life. I am so excited to be sharing with y’all about my new single ‘Leaving Boots’ and the heart that went into making this song. I am truly so stinking proud of it and hope y’all love it as much as I do.”

CSC: Can you tell us more about your musical beginnings and how you made your way to where you are now in your career?

BL: “I have always been a creative kid and was constantly making art in all forms (toilet paper sculptures included…) I started writing songs around the age of 11 and would tinker on my guitar and piano and put on shows for my family. When COVID hit and everything shut down, I really turned to songwriting in a way I hadn’t in many years. Now, four years later, I can’t believe I am releasing my eighth song, have played amazing music venues and halls, a music festival and had the opportunity to work with such incredible musicians and creators. Little Brett would be amazed, and I hope I’m making her proud.”

CSC: We know you are a country artist from Dallas, Texas, but now based in New York City. How does being in the Big Apple inspire your music?

BL: “I think that being in the Big Apple has provided me with the gift of people watching in a way that no city I have lived before has. I am constantly watching people go about their days and speculating on what is going on in their story. It’s really inspired a lot of songs and ideas and is a reminder that every person has a story. It’s a fun game I play with myself while I sit at the dog park with my pup, Phoebe, and try and come up with a verse of a song about a random passerby. All that being said, I am country through and through and being in the Big Apple isn’t going to change that!”

CSC: Your new song, and first of 2024 “Leaving Boots” is finally here. How does it feel knowing that all of your hard work is now out there for people to listen to?

BL: “It’s an amazing and surreal feeling, even after being down this road before. This is such a fun song and is catchy in a way that I hope makes its way into the brains and playlists of people who love a good boot-tapping ‘leave him’ anthem.”

CSC: Can you tell us more about the track and what people can expect from it?

BL: “I think that the track carries a super fun, up-tempo, funky sound that is layered in sound and story. I think that myself and my producer, Christopher Harris, are both passionate about making music that doesn’t sound cookie cutter and is interesting to the ear because it’s dynamic.”

CSC: What is your proudest moment from making “Leaving Boots” that you can share with us?

BL: “I co-wrote the lyrics of this song with Leslie Satcher, who is the most incredible songwriter and songstress I have ever seen. She is an icon and was just inducted into the Nashville Songwriting Hall of Fame, rightfully so because she is amazing. To just learn from and create with her is such an honor and I’m so proud of have another song in my collection that’s been cowritten with her!”

CSC: Do you have a favorite memory from making the song?

BL: “I would have to say my favorite memory from making the song was again, writing with Leslie. We have a ton of work tapes from that session and it’s fun to listen back to the initial recordings and our laughs and chat about the arch of the story and the arch of the song musically. She really is the best and I so fondly look back on our time working together always.”

CSC: With “Leaving Boots” being your first song for the new year, how would you describe this era that you’re in at the moment?

BL: “I am entering an era as a songwriter where I am really stepping into the shoes, or boots, of empowerment and uptempo music. I love a ballad, more than anything, but I have written so many songs about heart break and heartache in the past few years that I am really loving being in this era of writing stories that reclaim the power and passion of being a woman.”

CSC: Is “Leaving Boots” a taste of new music coming? If so, what can you tell us about what’s next?

BL: “‘Leaving Boots’ is a taste of new music coming…and what is coming next brings me back to 90s country and I am so beyond excited for y’all to stay tuned and hear all that’s coming up!”

CSC: Do you have any goals you’d like to achieve for yourself this year?

BL: “My goal is to play another festival or open for a more established artist. Both of these goals are truly centered around being in a space where I can continue to learn from incredible artists and also continue to grow my name and impact on country music as well.”

CSC: Since we’re Celeb Secrets Country, do you have any secrets (fun facts, hidden talents, etc) that you can share with our readers?

BL: “My fun fact is that I went viral on TikTok for a video I posted about my boyfriend and I starting long distance. I posted the video in Arizona when my mom and I were roadtripping with my dog back from Texas after my graduation and went to bed and woke up with millions of views and likes! Barstool and a whole host of other accounts also picked it up and reposted it and it’s still circulating and being reposted!”
