The upbeat country tune, according to the Nashville based singer/songwriter, “is a nod to all the strong women out there.” With a catchy hook that encourages girls to be the best versions of themselves, Karissa says the song is a reminder to “keep her head held high” and be her “weird, creative, dorky self” because “its what makes her unique.”
“While listening to this song, I hope listeners smile and dance along! I want listeners to think about who they are, what their style is, and what makes them so special. We are all unique, strong, and beautiful and I think that is something to celebrate,” she tells Celeb Secrets exclusively.
Co-written by Karissa with friends Kalsey Kulyk and Alex Seier, “Girls” was penned before the mandatory stay-at-home order due to the Coronavirus pandemic that began earlier this year. ” I knew that during this time I wanted to make the most of it and put out a new song,” she says. “Recording music during quarantine was very interesting but we made it work six-feet apart.”
