On Tuesday (September 24) Eric Church celebrated two of his No. 1 hit songs “Some Of It” and “Round Here Buzz” in one of the most unique and extravagant ways — a private airport hangar at the Nashville International Airport!
Family, friends, fellow songwriters, and media gathered with the country superstar for an evening of appreciation hosted by BMI. Along with the interesting location, the hangar was equipped with two jets which attendees were given the fun opportunity of going on board!
As Church took the stage, he gave thanks to his label and all the staff who helped make the songs such a huge success.
“I’ve always said to them I’m not sure I can always give you a song that’s gonna be a number one song or is gonna be the easiest song, but I can promise you I will never give you something you’re not proud to represent,” he shared. “It will be something that you can look at your friends in any genre or anybody that has any kind of taste of any other music and say, ‘this is the song I represent,’ and that’s what we’ve always tried to do. Sometimes we get number one. Most times we don’t.”
One of the most memorable and touching moments of the evening was a surprise video complication of country music’s most respected names voicing their appreciation for Church, and thanking him for the musical inspiration and motivation.
“The thing I’ve always admired about Eric is the truth in his calling… He’s non-categorizable,” said Keith Urban. “Record to record, he’s going to infuse whatever is speaking to him at any given time into what he’s doing, but his narrative as a writer and his voice is the through line for me. Everything I hear of his, that rock-steady Northern Star that connects all the different experiments that he has in record making is great songs… They should all go number one, Eric.”
Clearly emotional as he returned to the stage, the exceptionally talented singer-songwriter addressed the crowd with a red face and faltering voice.
“That video was something I’m not ready to address yet. That was one of the coolest things – no, that’s about the coolest thing I’ve been a part of,” he said. “My intention was always just to try to make great music, write great songs. And to see it matter is really something.”
Church concluded the night with a humorous and exciting promise, “but I will say this after seeing the video; I’m not done. I’m not retiring. I’m not dying… I look forward to kicking their asses every night on stage.”
Congrats Eric on not one, but two No. One hits! Celeb Secrets Country is sure there will be many more to come.
