Is it just us, or is Walker McGuire‘s new single “Lost” SUCH a jam?
The addictive track has such a fun vibe that will get your feet tapping and hands in the air from the minute it starts. Many fans seem to agree with our opinion, as the song now has over 3 million streams on Spotify!
Co-written by Jordan Walker with Kristian Bush and Justin Wilson, the song has a pretty funny story behind it.
“I wrote that with Kristian Bush and Justin Wilson and it was the week after we signed our record deal. It was one of those songs that as soon as it was written we were like, “we have to get in the studio, tomorrow and record this,” you know? And so the more we started playing it out loud the more people really loved it. And we knew from the moment we recorded it that we wanted it to be on the radio eventually and luckily enough the label was right behind us with it,” band member Jordan Walker shared exclusively with Celeb Secrets Country after their Stagecoach performance.
“Its actually a funny story [behind it],” he continued. “My buddy told me a story about him being on the phone with his girlfriend and they were arguing and he got lost – he didn’t even know where he was. And he was like, ‘you should write a song about that.’ And I go, ‘I can’t really write a song about you hating your girlfriend,’ so that’s where it came from.”
“Lost” is featured on the duo’s self-titled debut EP, which also includes their breakthrough Top 40 debut “Til Tomorrow,” which has earned over 25 million streams on Spotify. Co-written entirely by Walker McGuire, the EP also showcases the boisterous party-starter “Best Kinda Bad,” the introspective and lyrically ambitious “Mysteries of the World,” and a nostalgic tip of the hat to small town living with the wildly relatable “18 Forever.”
“[The EP] has been 4 ½ years in the making for us,” said band member Johnny McGuire. “We put out 5 songs with this record, and I think a lot of fans want more, so we’re hopefully going to put out a record later this fall. But it’s been so awesome having those 5 songs out – there’s been a little bit of growth and the crowds at our shows have been getting bigger. I see people know more than 1 or 2 songs now, so its really helping us and we can’t wait to put out more.”
You can catch Walker McGuire perform the songs off their debut EP during the 2018 CMA Music Festival in Nashville beginning Thursday, June 7th and wrapping on Sunday, June 10th.
