The compilation of songs is everything we expected and more — with her upbeat vocals and impeccable blend of pop and country, Bare Feet is a record that you’ll be blasting over and over this upcoming summer.
“This album is my baby – I wrote every song by myself, played almost all the instruments except bass and drums, and I co-produced it with Ric Wake, who has produced Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Trisha Yearwood and many more,” Jones tells CS Country in a recent interview.
While the record is extremely personal for Caroline, the lyrics are relatable to any situation, guaranteeing an instant connection between the music and the listener. We’re almost positive it will bring massive success for Caroline down the road, and we can’t wait for what’s to come.
CS Country sat down with the singer/songwriter moments after the record was released to hear more about the writing and recording process, as well as touring with Jimmy Buffett. Take a read at the full interview and listen to Bare Feet below. You can catch Caroline on the road with Jimmy Buffett and The Eagles, Zac Brown Band, and Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.
You just released Bare Feet! How exciting!? What did you do to prepare for the release the last week?
Caroline: “My band and I have been in rehearsals for the tour with Jimmy Buffett. I am thrilled to be able to share this music with audiences in a live setting on the day of release. It’s going to be a party in Baltimore!”
What can people expect from the album?
Caroline: “An uplifting, high energy blend of pop and country. This album is my baby – I wrote every song by myself, I played most all the instruments except bass and drums, and I co-produced it with Ric Wake, who has produced Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Trisha Yearwood and many more!”
How would you describe the sound of the album? Is there a theme to it?
Caroline: “My roots are deep in the tradition of songwriting as poetry and storytelling, but I love the excitement and size of modern production – synths, stacked background vocals, and programmed beats. My co-producer, Ric Wake and I tried to strike a balance of those elements in this record.”
How long did it take you to complete the entire project?
Caroline: “Over a year, since I built it with a very small team from the ground up.”
What makes this album so special to you?
Caroline: “I put my heart and soul into all aspects of this album – songwriting, instruments, singing, and production. So every note, every word, every sound has been lovingly and intentionally crafted. I hope that passion comes though to the listener.”
What are your top two favorite songs off of the album and why?
Caroline: ““The Difference” and “YOUR HEART IS MINE.” I love how the production builds in those songs, and I really enjoy stacking background vocals, which those two songs showcase in a big way. In a different sense, “Country Girl” is my autobiography put into a song. It still makes me cry sometimes when I sing it.”
You are touring with Jimmy Buffett and The Eagles! How exciting?! Can you tell us a little more about that?
Caroline: “I was invited to play Jimmy’s Trying to Reason Hurricane Relief Benefit at the end of last year, and we really hit it off. He has been a great mentor to me, and I admire his entrepreneurial spirit and lighthearted, meaningful outlook on life. He inspires millions of people. Opening some co-headlining shows with The Eagles is a dream come true. These are artists who have stood the test of time, who are as creative and proficient as ever decades into their careers. I model myself after that kind of craftsmanship.”
What else can we expect from you in 2018?
Caroline: “I’ll be touring with Jimmy Buffett and The Eagles this Spring, then Faith Hill and Tim McGraw and Zac Brown Band this Summer. Go to carolinejones.com for tour dates and come out and see me and my band play live!!!!”
Since we are Celeb Secrets Country, what is a secret about the album that people would not know?
Caroline: “We recorded the album in South Florida. I LOVE the ocean, the sunshine, trees, grass – hence “Bare Feet” – and I write a lot when I am out in nature. All those good vibes are in the record! :-)”
