Dierks Bentley along with Bon Iver’s S. Carey just debuted the new music video behind “Hold The Light,” featured in Columbia Pictures and Black Label Media’s upcoming film Only the Brave, out October 20th.
Directed by Wes Edwards and shot in Nashville last month, the video includes a moving performance with Bentley’s band and incorporates pivotal scenes from the film to mirror the song’s key lyrics.
“This song hits really close to me because we wrote it based on the story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots,” said Bentley. “One of the most powerful takeaways for me from working on this project has been the need to search for hope and light even in the darkest of times. I think right now that message is more meaningful than ever.”
As Bentley co-wrote his first-ever song written and recorded for a motion picture with Carey, Joe Trapanese and Jon Randall it has already been dubbed as a “Best Original Song” contender for the 2018 Oscar’s by The Hollywood Reporter. In the collaboration, the songwriters worked closely with Only the Brave composer Joe Trapanese’s film theme, providing a seamless transition between song and score and resulting in a song that is integral to the film itself.
