Nashville natives Jaren Johnston, (Guitar & Lead Vocals), Kelby Ray (Lap Steel Guitar) and Neil Mason (Drums, Percussion & Vocals) pack a huge punch on the album, which features only one outside collaboration with revered singer/songwriter Lori McKenna. From their boundary-pushing
Celeb Secrets Country is breaking down the record track by track to give you a rundown on what you can expect. Take a listen to Legacy below and make sure to follow the band on Instagram at @thecadillac3.
If you like what you hear, the band will headline Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium for the first time and offering an important reminder of their dream-worthy heritage on Thursday (August 31st). They’ll also take the new tunes to Europe when they return for their headline LONG HAIR DON’T CARE TOUR with Brothers Osborne and Broken Witt Rebels opening this fall.
“Cadillacin'” – This is a fantastic song to kick the album off with. This sexy sounding song has a great guitar lick will have you hooked.
“Tennessee”– These guys sure know how to open a song! We always love their strong instrumental presence, which is highlighted in this song. Jaren’s raspy voice fits this song perfectly, we could not see this tune being cut by anyone else!
“Hank & Jesus” – This song reminds us a lot of their previous album. The lyrics highlight the importance of how influences from your parents and your upbringing shape who you are.
“Dang If We Didn’t” – This is by far one of our favorite songs off of the album! “Dang If We Didn’t” is one of our favorite going out songs. Not only is it super catchy, but the lyrics are so much fun that we cant help but to sing along.
“Ain’t That Country” – If you think of the most country lyrics possible, they are in this tune. Everything stereotypically country is depicted throughout the song.
“American Slang” – “American Slang” is without doubt another one of our favorite songs off of the album! The lyrics are so clever and perfectly worded. You can catch us jamming to this song in our cars for the rest of the year.
“Take Me To The Bottom”- We love how this is one of the slower and sexier songs on the album. We adore this one because it is not your typical country love ballad. The Cadillac Three could not have chosen a better love song to be on this album.
“Long Hair Don’t Care” – The Cadillac Three’s pure talent is perfectly demonstrated throughout this song. Between the rand of vocals, to the guitar licks, to the percussion, “Long Hair Don’t Care” is a song that we cannot get enough of.
“Love Me Like Liquor” – Can you believe this song features Lori McKenna?! She adds the perfect harmony to complete this song. This mellow song is exactly what the album needed.
“Demolition Man” – We love this song! The back beat keeps us tapping our feet while shamelessly singing along. We think this would be a great song to see them perform live! Have you seen the music video for this tune yet? It is very unique and fits it perfectly!
“Legacy” – The title track is the most powerful song off the album. “Legacy” has the most meaningful lyrics and we are head over heels for it. It is the perfect way to wrap up the album. We will have this song on repeat for at least the next four months.
