Celeb Secrets Country: What are you most excited about for the release of your newest album, Never Gets Old?

Joe Nichols: “It is a little different than the last album and I am just looking forward to seeing what everybody thinks of it. It is a traditional country album, and hopefully that is the direction that country fans are expecting from me.”

Celeb Secrets Country: What artists had the biggest influence on this traditional country album?

Joe Nichols: “Definitely the old-school like ’80’s and ’70’s artists such as Randy Travis, Merle Haggard, and George Strait!”

Celeb Secrets Country: How did you choose all of the different songs to go on the album, as there is a huge variety of songwriters?

Joe Nichols: “It is a long process. We started with a stack of about 500 songs and went through them to see what theme popped up and what the next record should be like. We went to the studio and cut about 6 or 8 at a time and went from there.”

Celeb Secrets Country: Did you have a specific theme in mind when picking the right songs for this album?

Joe Nichols: “Initially, but I think it became clear to us how to go about it. I’m a traditional country singer, let’s just see what we can find with that.”

Celeb Secrets Country: How does this album, compare to your previous album, Crickets?

Joe Nichols: “I think Never Gets Old is a more traditional country album. Crickets is one of my favorite albums I’ve made, but this album reminds me of my very first record, Man With A Memory.”

Celeb Secrets Country: Do you have a favorite song off of the album to play live?

Joe Nichols: “I love playing “Never Gets Old”; “Diamonds Make Babies” always goes over great live as well, but “Baby Got Back” is probably my favorite to play from the new album.”

Celeb Secrets Country: How does this album show your progression as an artist since your last album?

Joe Nichols: “I think this album shows my willingness to get back to basics.  That’s a great feeling to know I’m just gonna be me.”

Celeb Secrets Country: Since we are Celeb Secrets Country, what is a secret about yourself that you would like to share with us?

Joe Nichols: “I’m a Jeopardy nut. Love watching the show and even took the test to be on it! Just haven’t heard back from them yet…”
