Country music newcomer Brett Young is quickly making a name for himself! The California native’s debut single “Sleep Without You” reached the number one spot on the country charts and his second single, “In Case You Didn’t Know” is already in the top ten.
If that wasn’t enough – Brett released his self-titled debut album, Brett Young in February, which soared up the charts to number two.
His impressive year was enough to get him nominated at the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards, where he was up for New Male Vocalist of the Year.
“I was out promoting the new record, it was release week for the album. I was in California so I was two hours behind, so everybody in Nashville found out before me,” said Brett Young during our most recent interview.
“I woke up to like, 30-40 text messages from friends and family congratulating me. I actually thought people were messing with me. It was shocking, surprising, flattering, and humbling all at the same time.”

Brett Young was joined in the ACM category with newcomers Kane Brown, Jon Pardi, Chris Janson, and Chris Lane.
“It’s such good company. I’m so flattered by the nomination and to be included with these guys. I’ve gotten to know all of them a little bit in the last year and they’re great dudes and so talented. It’s a huge compliment to be included in the list with these guys,” said Young.

The singer/songwriter is currently accompanying Luke Bryan on the road for his KILL THE LIGHTS TOUR with dates through September.
As for what’s next after the tour wraps up? Even Brett doesn’t know!
“I wish I knew! Every time we think my schedule wrapped for the year, we add something else,” said Brett Young, laughing. “Luckily the singles are doing well and we have a handful more that we would love to send radio.”
Since we are Celeb Secrets Country, we did have to ask Brett to spill a fun secret or fact with us! Here’s what he to say:
“I still sleep with my blankie. The one that I’ve had since I was a baby, so it doesn’t even look like a blankie anymore. It’s very ratty and not in good shape, but I still sleep with it every single night.”
Make sure to catch the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards LIVE from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 2nd @ 8PM ET/PT on CBS.
