CS Country: So your new EP Pretty Cool Scars is coming out soon. How excited are you guys for that?

Swon Brothers: “So pumped. We put our heart and soul into this thing. And it’s seriously the best music we’ve done. It’s not because of us and anything that we did, it’s just that we surrounded ourselves with a group of people that took the music to the next level, and the songs to the next level, and we’re really excited. March 17th is when the EP comes out.”

CS Country: Do you guys have a favorite track off the EP?

Zach Swon: “There’s a couple. We’ve got our first single which is coming out this Friday (February 24) which is called ‘Don’t Call Me’. I love that one just ‘cause the melody is so infectious and hooky and just gets stuck in your head. But there’s another song on there that I really love and it’s because I’m a fan of 90s country music. We have a song called “Dwight Trashed” as in Dwight Yokam. (laughs) It’s just a fun song and it kind of pays tribute to all of our 90s country heroes, so that one’s cool.”

CS Country: We got to listen to the EP and we thought “Gold” was so good – unbelievable.

Colton Swon: “Thank you! That song is just a great message. The last EP we wrote everything and this one we only wrote one song. It’s cool how it works out and it’s cool to see what people respond to differently.”

CS Country: How would you guys describe your sound for someone who hasn’t heard you yet?

Zach Swon: “I think it’s just brothers being brothers. I mean, it’s country music but you can tell when it’s us I think. And I think that’s what’s cool. We’ve always said, ‘you know – I don’t know that either one of us would make it as a solo artist’ or want to be – even though I want to be a solo artist someday. (laughs) But I think the two of us together: that’s the sound. The brothers, the family harmony. It sucks that I gotta spend so much time with him, (laughs) but when it comes to being on stage, we know each other is gonna do before it happens.”
