2016 has been a whirlwind for rising singer/songwriter Lacy Cavalier.

The country songstress released an EP called Savin’ Pennies, Payin’ Dues, toured with Chase Rice, launched her own blog series, and made her CMA Fest debut. At CMA Fest, Cavalier appeared on the Radio Disney Country Stage inside Fan Fair X, where she performed songs off her EP and answered questions from fans in the audience.

Celeb Secrets Country caught up with Lacy Cavalier recently to talk all things music! In our interview, the Louisiana native opened up about making the move to Nashville, her first CMA Fest experience, and touring with Chase Rice. Lacy also talked about her vlog series with boyfriend Van Hunt and what she wants to accomplish within the next year. We also learned that Lacy has returned to waitressing when she isn’t vlogging or making music, just like her single “Waitress” — so cool!

Lacy’s talented voice and bubbly personality leaves a lasting impression on all who meet her. Check out the full Q&A below, and for more on Lacy Cavalier, follow her on Twitter at @LacyCavalier.

Celeb Secrets Country: Can you tell me about your experience at  CMA Fest earlier this summer?

Lacy Cavalier: “It was so fun. This is the first year I’ve had my name on an official CMA roster and we did all of the stuff like CMT awards and see all of our friends play and all that kind of stuff. It’s a lot of fun but tiring- you wake up and you’re like ‘I’ve been wearing this mascara for four days now.’”

Celeb Secrets Country: You released an EP in April, how is that going for you?

Lacy Cavalier: “Its been really fun! I had complete creative control over it and I am so proud and excited about it. Right now we’re in the process of making 2 videos for the songs. You get to write, produce, release them and now make videos!”

Celeb Secrets Country: Did you write all of the songs on it?

Lacy Cavalier:” I did. The last year and a half was building up to release something.”

Celeb Secrets Country: Are you working on anything else right now?

Lacy Cavalier: “I am! I just got off tour with Chase Rice and when we came back I realized I had to start writing again. The past month I’ve been writing a lot.”

Celeb Secrets Country: What’s the favorite place you’ve ever played a show at?

Lacy Cavalier: “Oh that’s hard, I got to play at someone’s birthday party in South Louisiana and they boiled me a whole thing of crawfish and flew me back with a whole thing of crawfish. But also, every single one of the Chase dates were insane and awesome.”

Celeb Secrets Country: What was it like playing in front of so many people?

Lacy Cavalier: “We pulled up to a basketball stadium at a college and they were like about 6,000 tickets have been sold tonight and I just kept looking around and I was like okay, not funny, I was not prepared. By the end of the tour I was very comfortable and every time I got off stage I wanted to hop back on.”

Celeb Secrets Country: When did you move to Nashville?

Lacy Cavalier: “Three years ago, I moved with my mom and she lived with me for a year and then she moved back home.”

Celeb Secrets Country: When did you decide you wanted to be an artist?

Lacy Cavalier: “There’s videos of me at five years old telling my parents that I could sing very well and that’s what I was going to do with my life. So I kind of always told them I was going to be a country music star and that was it, there’s no other option. My parents were very supportive.”

Celeb Secrets Country: What is your favorite part about moving to Nashville?

Lacy Cavalier: “You’re never bored, there’s always something to do. There’s church on Tuesday nights, a friends having a show or you can go here or there. The options are endless and there are so many places to eat. Super expensive though.”

Celeb Secrets Country: Tell me about your vlog!

Lacy Cavalier: “Me and my boyfriend always filmed each other on Snapchat and Instagram videos so we had to put them on a better forum. We started this because we would call our family and friends and tell them we’re going to such and such event this weekend and they would be confused as to how it is so casual to us. You sit there and you think that you do so many awesome things that you forget how cool it is, we decided to start filming and take it with us. I was walking down the street the other day and Luke Bryan walked past me and I was like alright this isn’t normal, this is when I should be filming.”

Celeb Secrets Country: What else are you doing with your life?

Lacy Cavalier: “I wrote a song on my EP called “Waitress” and now I’m waitressing again! I just started and its so much fun. I love my job, its crazy and I love it because I always leave with a burger in hand.”

Celeb Secrets Country: What is your next goal?

Lacy Cavalier: “Get a single on the radio! Radio Disney Country has been playing some of my songs so that’s a huge thing and I am so appreciative of that.”

Celeb Secrets Country: Do you have a favorite moment you’ve had on the tour?

Lacy Cavalier: “It was our last show on the tour with Chase, and we sing “Ride” together as the last song at every show, and so as a prank I wore a Easter bunny suit and hopped my way out on stage. Chase’s face was priceless.”
