Carrie Underwood is headed back to the football field!
The 8-time GRAMMY Award winner and country music superstar will return to NBC’s Sunday Night Football for the 11th year in a row starting next month on NBC and Peacock.
The musical opener is set to debut right before the Dallas Cowboys versus New York Giants game on Sunday September 10, and is set to contain a new version of the song “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” which is a track inspired by Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You,” from her residency, REFLECTION, in Las Vegas.
Underwood says, “Once again, the incredible Sunday Night Football team came up with a concept that really gives us a chance to play. I loved shooting the show open again this year at our home away from home, The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, and can’t wait for another season of football!”
A sneak peek of the opener will air this week on Thursday, August 3rd during NBC’s Hall of Fame Game. This rendition joins the singer for her remix of “Oh, Sunday Night” based on her song “Somethin’ Bad” with Miranda Lambert and original “Game On.”

Creative director of the Sunday Night Football openers Tripp Dixon shared, “We’re thrilled to work with Carrie to capture a new vision for this season’s show open. It sets the tone for the broadcast and pays tribute to the teams, star players and fans in a fun and dynamic way.”
The show open for Sunday Night Football, primetime television’s No. 1 program for an unprecedented 12 consecutive years, will debut on Sunday, Sept. 10 on NBC and Peacock leading into Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys visiting Daniel Jones and the NFC East rival New York Giants. The matchup marks the series-high fifth time that the Cowboys and Giants have met in the opening NBC Sunday Night Football game.
