Jordan Davis Reveals That He Almost Didn’t Choose “Next Thing You Know” As His Current Single For This Reason (Exclusive)

After ‘seeing the reaction and seeing people really connecting with it,’ Jordan decided to give “Next Thing You Know” a chance by bringing it to Country Radio.

After Jordan Davis‘ 2018 album, Home State, made waves in the country music space, thanks to smash hits like “Singles You Up,” “Take It from Me,” “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot” and more, fans had been anxiously awaiting new music from the country superstar for YEARS.

Fortunately, his new project, Bluebird Days, hit all music streaming platforms back in February, and it did NOT disappoint. Everyone was absolutely thrilled to have new tunes from the talented singer-songwriter, and they were definitely in for a treat when listening to the new project from start to finish.

Davis’ label, UMG Nashville, revealed that throughout Bluebird Days, the Shreveport, Louisiana native “digs deep into his own experiences for a collection that offers a wide range of emotions, meditations, and memories, matched by his signature sound, blending traditional and contemporary genres and styles. With a young family and a career that’s rapidly on the rise, he was still surprised to see the depth that this material was reaching.”

While some of Bluebird Days‘ most notable tracks are “Buy Dirt” featuring Luke Bryan, “Midnight Crisis” featuring Danielle Bradbery, “What My World Spins Around,” “Next Thing You Know” and more, all 17 songs are truly phenomenal. The whole album is sure to tug on your heartstrings!

In between his performances at 2023 iHeartCountry Festival in Austin, Texas earlier this month, Davis talked ALL about his newest album, as well as the viral success of his chart-topping single, “Next Thing You Know,” in an exclusiveinterview with Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder.

When asked the reasoning behind making “Next Thing You Know” one of Bluebird Days‘ beloved singles, Davis revealed (to our surprise) that he almost did not.

“It was me. It was my fault,” he spilled. “It doesn’t have a traditional chorus. It just kind of starts and stops, so I think that that’s what kind of held me back on it, but then after seeing the reaction and seeing people really connecting with it, they kind of made the choice for me.”

The country superstar then went on to share some of the best stories he has heard from fans in regards to “Next Thing You Know,” and there are truly some tear-jerkers.

“For me it’s the grandparents,” he gushed. “I’ve gotten a couple of messages from grandmas about watching their kiddos grow up and now they’re on their grandbabies, so that really kind of makes me think of my grandparents and how influential they were in my life.”

“Both of my grandpas are my idols, so to have a song that is impacting people that are either engaged or just married, but also going all the way down the line into grandparents is pretty cool,” he concluded passionately.

Aside from soaking in the success of “Next Thing You Know” and Bluebird Days as a whole, Jordan Davis is hitting the road this fall for the Damn Good Time Tour.

Beginning on August 31st in Atlanta, Georgia and ending on October 21st in Las Vegas, Nevada, Davis is ready to bring his country charm to cities all across the United States, and we can’t wait to see which of Bluebird Days‘ beloved tracks make it onto his setlist.

“This tour has been a tour that I truly had a hand in picking where we were going, and I think that, I don’t know why, that just feels a little more special to me,” he shared with Celeb Secrets.

With special guests Avery Anna, Gabby Barrett, Danielle Bradbery, Flatland Cavalry, Greylan James, Dylan Marlowe, Kameron Marlowe, Jameson Rodgers, Mike Ryan, Conner Smith and Georgia Webster accompanying him along the way, the Damn Good Time Tour is sure to be unforgettable!
