Today is a pretty important day for singer Michael Ray — his brand new single “Her World or Mine” has officially hit country radio! Serving as the third single off of Ray‘s sophomore album Amos, the track tells the emotional story of a breakup from both points of view, and digs deep into the painful feelings that result.
“It’s a song that is not exactly a reflection where I’m at in my life now, but it’s the exact reflection where I was two years ago,” Ray shared with CS Country exclusively after his performance at the iHeartCountry Festival in Austin earlier this month. “I think it’s just a real honest song that people have been on both sides of, and I think the connection that the fans have had with it is because of that.”
While “Her World or Mine” may be one of the saddest songs he’s ever released, Ray is the happiest he’s ever been — he’s engaged to fellow country singer Carly Pearce and is expected to get married this fall, CS Country can confirm.
“Carly is not letting me plan [the wedding]. I just asked for an open bar,” he dished to CS Country. “Her and her mom are doing everything; they’ve got such a great eye for stuff and when she sees something and knows it, she’s confident in it. It’s cut off a little bit of time trying to figure out what we want and it’s been a lot of fun being able to plan it.”
In addition to the wedding, Ray also opened up about working with his wife-to-be in the near future which may or may not include a tour and a duet.
“At some point, yeah we would love to make [a tour] happen. I think we are both busy doing our stuff that our individual careers have been you know already kind of going and just to build that. When the time’s right we will for sure,” he confessed.
He continued to hint about a duet with Pearce, saying, “it might be on our new record. It’s coming out.”
