Southern Halo Spill the Tea on Making New Album ‘Just Like In The Movies’

Southern Halo/Facebook

In April, our girls Southern Halo released the album Just Like In The Movies and we can’t get enough of it!

The three sisters — Natalia, Christina, and Hannah Morris — have been busy and they don’t plan to stop anytime soon. By the end of the year, Southern Halo hopes to finish their Just Like In The Movies movie while continuing their tour with High School Nation.

At the 2018 CMA Music Festival last month, Celeb Secrets Country got to catch up with the three sisters from the Mississippi Delta to learn more about the making behind Just Like In The Movies. Take a read at the full Q&A below and make sure to follow the girls on Instagram at @officialsouthernhalo.

CS Country: In April you guys released the album, Just Like In The Movies. Can you tell us about the process behind putting this album together?

Natalia: “The process behind the Just Like In The Movies album was exciting and magical because it is a concept album. We’ve never done anything like that before, so it was very different from the very first album, which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was so cool being back in Nashville and recording it and watching every single original that you wrote yourself come to life.”

Christina: “It was really fun! We actually did our first album also at Benchmark Studio. It was kind of cool seeing the difference between your first album and then your second. Things are a lot more smooth. We put a lot more of our own creativity into the projects and we’re very proud of it.”

Hannah: “With our first album, we really had no idea what we were going into and we were like sponges. We were soaking it all up. It’s fun to work with the session musicians and get to know everybody. It’s like a big family.”

CS Country: You guys were just touring all around the country at various schools. Can you tell us more about that?

Christina: “We did this really cool thing called HSN Tours (High School Nation Tours). It’s this really cool organization that really wants to help grow the arts, especially in music education and entertainment in different schools. They take this big festival and they move from like big city to big city. “

Natalia: “High School Nation actually does up to five weeks in the spring and the fall. We’re actually going to be tagging along this upcoming fall. It’s exciting because not only do they teach the kids about music at each festival, but they also donate a whole recording studio to each school.”

CS Country: What are your fondest musical memories that you guys have together?

Christina: “Being on the road and traveling together has opened so many doors up. I’d have to say my favorite experience was when we went to Scotland. There are castles everywhere!”

Hannah: “I would have to say getting the chance to perform at the Ryman Auditorium.”

Natalia: “It’s all fun because we get to really see the world together. In Southern Halo, we each bring something to the table and we all three grow and conquer things at the same time. It’s really nice having accomplishments with your sisters.”

CS Country: What can we expect from y’all in 2018?

Natalia: “In 2018, the girls and I are currently working on a lot more shows and a lot more videos. People don’t know that this new album is actually a concept album. We hope to have all the videos done by either late this year/early next year, so that all of our fans will be able to watch that Just Like In The Movies movie.”

Hannah: “Hopefully taking us back across the pond to the UK or other places like Germany or Hong Kong even. That’d be great!”

CS Country: Since we are Celeb Secrets Country, can you each share a secret or fun fact about yourself?

Natalia: “People don’t know I can wiggle my ears! Christina’s secret is when people meet her at first their like, “Oh! She’s such a lovely girl!” You get her back in the Mississippi Delta, you will not expect it, but she can wrestle a fish.”

Hannah: “I guess I’m kind of good at cooking and no one would know that.”

Natalia: “Hannah’s a good equestrian. She’s a horse whisperer.”
