William Michael Morgan has quickly taken the country music scene by storm. The artist landed his first number one single, “I Met A Girl,” in 2016 and says he’s currently hard at work creating new music. Celeb Secrets Country caught up with the singer/songwriter this Labor Day weekend in Panama City. Find out how he manages to balance being a country star & a dad, while trying to just be a 24-year-old.
Celeb Secrets Country: You are originally from Vicksburg, MS. Tell us about the transition from Mississippi to Nashville. What made you do it?
William Michael Morgan: I was just chasing my dream and had to go for it. I just signed a deal with Warner and pretty much the first two years was nothing but writing. I was constantly forming friendships and connections. We ended up having our first single become a number one and had a top five song on billboard charts. We are very blessed.
Celeb Secrets Country: So Sam Hunt Co-wrote “I Met a Girl,” are they any other artists you’d like to work with in the future?
William Michael Morgan: Yeah. I mean I think Nashville has some of the best songwriters, just as themselves that aren’t trying to do the artist thing. I’ve been very blessed to work with those writers. But as far as artists go, I haven’t really thought about it yet. I mean hell, anyone that wants to write I’m more than willing to give it a try.
Celeb Secrets Country: Who are you’re musical inspirations?
William Michael Morgan: Keith Whitley, Merle Haggard, George Strait- the King.
Celeb Secrets Country:What does the rest of 2017 look like for you?
William Michael Morgan: Well, we are going back into the studio and going to cut some stuff for our new record. Not too much news on that yet still just kicking it around. I’m about to release a new single, “Vinyl.” It’s my favorite song we’ve cut so far. We love it so much that we’ve named the album after it.
Celeb Secrets Country: So how do you manage being a country star, dad to your little girl Presley, and a being a normal 24 year old? How do you find a balance in all of those things?
William Michael Morgan: *Laughs* Day by day, day by day and a lot of the good Lord’s help.
Celeb Secrets Country: Is there anything you want your fans to know before we go?
