During CMA Fest last month, Celeb Secrets Country joined Ryan Kinder at his Waffle House-sponsored residency in Downtown Nashville for an evening of good drinks and music; it was the best way to finish our night after the madness at Nissan Stadium!
Ryan is one of those artists that you hear and recognize it is him right away. He has a distinct sound and many different prominent influences in his music. “John Mayer, Rob Thomas, and Keith Urban are my musical influences,” Kinder told CS Country exclusively.
Set on the rooftop at Aerial right on Broadway, Kinder displayed his remarkable guitar skills which were unbelievable. This guy sure knows how to get into a song and give it his all. He brought so much life into his songs and they even had a little bit of a funk tune to them!
Besides Ryan’s stand-out set, one of our favorite moments Thursday night (June 9) was when Kelsea Ballerini‘s fiancé and fellow Warner artist Morgan Evans dropped by for a surprise visit. Evans played a few songs for us and it was such a treat!
We caught up with Ryan to talk about his music, performing at the festival this year, and his upcoming releases. He even shared his favorite part about performing live and his best story from touring the nation! If you ever get a chance to see Ryan perform live, do NOT miss it! He was one of our favorite artists to see at CMA Fest this year.
We cannot wait until Ryan releases new music, but until then, we will continue to watch his Twitter and Instagram to let you know when that happens!
Celeb Secrets Country: Tell us about “Close!”
Ryan: “It was a song that chose itself to be the single, it was pretty apparent. Once I recorded it, I realized it. The tonality of the recording was great.”
Celeb Secrets Country: When can we expect to hear new music from you?
Ryan: “Hopefully in the next couple of months!”
Celeb Secrets Country: Can you tell us about the songs you’re going to release?
Ryan: “We recorded two of my favorite songs just a couple of days ago. It’ll be a mix between Train, One Republic, Gavin DeGraw kind of feel.”
Celeb Secrets Country: If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?
Ryan: “Michael Jackson or Prince…but I would love to do something with Keith Urban.”
Celeb Secrets Country: What is your favorite part about playing live?
Ryan: “The band mentality! You grow as a family and as a unit when you’re playing together so much. You become really tight, and that’s a lot of fun.”
Celeb Secrets Country: Do you have any funny touring stories?
Ryan: “There are so many I probably shouldn’t talk about. There are a couple of fans that come to every show when I’m in their town and they make their own Ryan Kinder shirts and they give me one. I have a bunch of homemade Ryan Kinder shirts, and they are really good, surprisingly! Some people bring food, they know we’re on the road for a long time and they’ll bring some home cooked stuff.”
Celeb Secrets Country: Since we are Celeb Secrets Country, do you have any secrets about yourself that you would like to share with us?
Ryan: “I love to garden. I have cucumbers, okra, tomato, corn, and eggplant in the garden right now!”
