CS Country: Can you tell us about how you became involved in making music?

Lexi Lauren: “I’ve always loved music. My family always tells me about how, when I was three or four, I would dance around the house, singing my heart out to “Miss Independent” by Kelly Clarkson. When I was ten years old, I got a guitar from my grandparents as a birthday gift and that’s when I started writing songs. Well, it was more like putting random words and chords together to create a “song” haha, but it was a start of something incredible. I went through stages when guitar was “too hard” or writing was “too frustrating”, but I always went back to music. I couldn’t stop. I still can’t. I love it with all my heart.”

CS Country: Who are your musical inspirations?

Lexi Lauren: “There are a lot of people in the music industry that I admire. If I had to narrow it down, I’d probably say Kelsea Ballerini, Taylor Swift, and Martina McBride. Martina’s songs have touched me SO much the past few years, and I really look up to her ability to show such strong emotions in the studio, as well as on stage.”

CS Country: Can you tell us about your new song “Don’t Text?”

Lexi Lauren: “The song is about, how in the time we live in, we’re on our phones SO much; sometimes, we even forget how to communicate in person, or even on the phone. Hearing someones voice is so much better than just texting them 24/7, and once in a while we just need to pick up the phone and call them. It’s an important part of any relationship.”

CS Country: You co-wrote the song — what was that experience like?

Lexi Lauren: “To write and record a song with such a unique message was really exciting for me. I feel like the song has a message that needs to be heard, and I’m super pumped to hear what people think about it.”

CS Country: What can we expect from you the rest of the year?

Lexi Lauren: “We’re planning on releasing my EP, which I can’t wait for. A couple songs on the EP are really close to my heart, and  I’m thrilled to share them with the fans and see how they connect with them as well.”

CS Country: Since we are Celeb Secrets, what’s a behind-the-scenes secret from filming the music video for “Don’t Text” that people wouldn’t know when they watch it?

Lexi Lauren: “One thing that people may not know is that we had to wake up SUPER early to shoot the video. I went to bed at 12:30am, and woke up at 3:30am. Basically I was living off of lots and lots of caffeine, but in the end it was SO worth it!”
