CS Country: How does it feel to be listened as one of Rolling Stone Ten Country Artists To Watch in 2017?
Caroline Jones: “It was a huge honor. Obviously Rolling Stone is a huge authority in music. And Elias Leight – one of the writers of that story – we had a great conversation and he just hit the nail on the head of exactly what I wanna be and what I wanna be known for. So that’s the article that I would point to for anyone who wants to know who I am.”
CS Country: Do you have a favorite show that you’ve played?
Caroline Jones: “I would say the most rewarding shows have been the shows at schools, high schools and colleges where I’ve really been able to touch a lot of young artists – and hopefully inspire them. Those have been the most rewarding, but we have some exciting radio festivals coming up. So I’ll let you know in a few months.”
CS Country: Can you tell us about the first you got in the car and randomly heard your song?
Caroline Jones: “It’s happened a few times now, on Sirius XM. I hear it and kinda just smile, I’m not a screamer or a crier. (laughs) But I just kinda smile and say, ‘Wow that’s really cool, dreams come true.’ It’s really cool when friends from around the country text me that they heard it on their local station, which is just starting to happen. So that’s really exciting.”
CS Country: How did you know you wanted to be an artist?
Caroline Jones: “I knew when I was really young because even before I sang and played guitar – I wrote. I would write all day, poems and stories. So when I begged my parents for singing lessons, I realized I could put all of those stories and poems to music, in the form of songs. That was probably when I was 9 or 10 years old, and there was no going back for me.”
