CS Country: What’s your favorite way to connect with your fans?
Chelsea Bain: “Social media. I love Instagram. I love the simplicity of it. A lot of my NASCAR fans are on my Facebook page, and I love it. I did my first Facebook live actually a few weeks ago and they were all there. The fact that you can talk to them in two seconds and they can be like, ‘I love this song’ or ‘I love that you did that, Chels’. I know back in the day you couldn’t do that. Sometimes it does it get overwhelming because you can’t talk to everybody all the time, I have to live my life, too. But, it really is such a cool thing because you can know so much so instantly, and stay in touch.”
CS Country: What is one thing you’ve learned about yourself, throughout this whole process of being an artist?
Chelsea Bain: “To be honest, not try too hard. Seriously, whatever you feel like doing – just do that. Tomorrow I may feel like dying my hair pink, so I’ll do that – I don’t know. And musically, it’s the same exact thing as that. One day, you may wanna cut your hair and the next day you may want long hair. Music is the same thing. I’ve had music that I’ve liked but it wasn’t necessarily me. Just being straight up about it all.”
CS Country: Can you tell us one of your favorite stories about being on stage or recording – favorite story so far?
Chelsea Bain: “There’s a song on my EP called ‘Trainwreck’, and it’s about a guy. I was in the studio and the producer I had at the time, we were recording in his house and I was in this tiny little room – no windows or anything. I was just having issues connecting with the song, and the way I do things, it has to be very emotional for me. And my best friend, she’s in the room too listening, they’re like ‘Chelsea, come on. Think about this, think about what happened.’ I have my headphones on and I’m listening to a playback and my friend came in and all of a sudden she just sets this phone on the music stand in front of me and it has a picture of the guy. (laughs) And I just died laughing because people don’t know, I’m not open about who it is…it was hilarious. It was kind of weird staring at him while singing the song, it really did help. That is the truest form of emotional artistry right there. I was like, ‘that’s embarrassing.'” (laughs)
CS Country: We are Celeb Secrets Country, do you have a secret about yourself you’d like to share with us?
Chelsea Bain: “I joined a fantasy pool this year for The Bachelor. I’ve actually never told anybody, I actually love trash TV. I’ll turn on E! Network and just watch all that all day and binge watch it and I’m just like, ‘what’s going in these people’s lives?’ I’m totally guilty of all that girly stuff. I think the person I picked, wins.”
