Dorian moved to Nashville in 2012 after spending some time in Orlando, FL where he honed his vocal and performance chops on the stages of Disney, and is now realizing his dream of being a solo country artist in Music City. Steve is no stranger to the stage being a member of ROCKAPELLA touring with the group throughout the U.S. and overseas.  His writing and vocal performance can be heard on the group’s three latest albums “Bang”, “A Rockapella Holiday”, and “Motown and More”.

Dorian has also released a solo EP earlier this year called Living. The record features the catchy melody “Edge of 18” is the first single off his new EP “Living” which was released in January 2016. “Edge of 18” is a hard hitting, hook you in quickly song. A catchy, singable melody with a modern country sound. A song of regret of lost love, looking back on those younger years and choices made we wish we could get back.

Celeb Secrets Country caught up with Steve Dorian recently to talk about what inspired him to become a country artist, his song “Edge of 18,” and being apart of ROCKAPELLA. He even shared why you should check out his music and some cool secrets about himself — make sure to read the full Q&A below.

Celeb Secrets Country: When did you decide you wanted to be a country star?

Steve Dorian: “It was in college when I really started listening to country music: Garth, George Strait and Alan Jackson. Like most country fans I felt the songs really spoke to me and I related to so much of what they sang about. From there on I was hooked. I started writing and singing country music from that time forward and wanted to take it as far as I could.”

Celeb Secrets Country: “Edge of 18” has made an impact on the Music Row Charts since the release, how has that impacted you?

Steve Dorian: “It’s been such a great honor to have “Edge of 18” get on the Music Row Chart. Since I moved to Nashville four years ago it’s been a goal to get a song out there like this. It has impacted me in that it drives me to push and work even harder to make more things happen like this.”

Celeb Secrets Country: You released your EP “Living” in January, how have your fans been responding to it?

Steve Dorian: ““Living” is a very special EP for me in that it was only made possible because of the fans. We were able to raise the money to make this EP happen with a crowd funding campaign and I feel those very supportive, generous fans feel part of the project and stayed with me throughout the recording process. So it’s been received well by them for sure.”

Celeb Secrets Country: How would you describe your sound for those who have not listened to your music yet?

Steve Dorian: “I would say it’s a cross between Keith Urban meets David Nail meets Dan and Shay. Very catchy, melodic songs, strong harmonies and lyrics that hopefully fans can relate to and have a great time with.”

Celeb Secrets Country: Why should people listen to your EP, “Living?”

Steve Dorian: “If they want new country with great lyrics and catchy melodies then they should hear this EP and give “Living” a listen. The songs are all about being in a moment and living life to the fullest.”

Celeb Secrets Country: What do you think is your biggest accomplishment as a country artist thus far?

Steve Dorian: “So far one of the highlights was to play on a CMA fest stage last summer. I won the ATT Country Deep Rising Star songwriting contest, which put me on the stage. My whole family and extended family came to town for the show and we had a blast. It was so cool to share that moment with the people who have believed in me from the beginning. Also, getting to hear my single “Edge of 18” on the radio for the first time. Very cool feeling!”

Celeb Secrets Country: What is the best part about being in the pop vocal group ROCKAPELLA?

Steve Dorian: “The best part of Rockapella is the loyal fans for sure. We have fans that have seen well over 100 shows Over the 20 plus years of the groups history and they keep coming back and bringing new friends and fans. So that is something special. We get to know these folks and it’s like a Rockapella family. Also I love when we have new audience members at our shows that have never heard Rockapella before and they can’t believe we make that sound with only our voices. That’s very cool to me. Of course traveling the world occasionally is a pretty cool perk.”

Celeb Secrets Country: If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?

Steve Dorian: “I’d love to go on tour with Jake Owen. I really love his whole vibe and fun attitude. I’m a huge fan of his music and I’d love to watch what he does every night and learn how he works his show and crowd. He’s really a great artist and I’d like to emulate that.”

Celeb Secrets Country: How was it playing at CMA Fest?

Steve Dorian: “It was a dream come true. My whole family was in town supporting the show and it was a huge goal of mine to get on one of those stages when I first moved to town. It took a few years but I reached that goal. Now I wanna do it again!”

Celeb Secrets Country: Since we are Celeb Secrets Country, can you share a secret about yourself with our readers?

Steve Dorian: “Ha. Love it. I can. I’ll share a hidden talent. I can move my hair! I know that sounds weird but it’s true. When I’m on stage and I move my hair, I’m usually saying hi to a family member in the crowd. ;)”
